    I KNOW RIGHT???

And people were like “oh the killer carved UWU what’s this and Helldivers 2 memes on his bullets, that’s common in Groyper circles”

Bro are you talking aboutttttt, what do you mean???
I just find it absurd how these niche-in-a-niche-in-a-niche communities develop and how seemingly random bits of internet culture turn into dogwhistles inside, it reaches a point where I’m just like dude, our lizard brains can’t handle the internet. We just weren’t wired to work like this, there’s no way

I really, truly, with all of my being, feel that we are reaching the end limits of what the human mind is currently able to contend with. We are so overstimulated it’s insane. We literally need to evolve our physical bodies as a species to continue living as we are or we will literally die.

I’m a grown-ass, nearly 40 year-old family man, and I fucking know what “uwu” is. These idiots think they’re “exposing the conspiracy”, when in reality anyone who has spent more than 4 seconds researching any meme would immediately recognize it.

        It wasn’t even “uwu” meme

It was the “OwO what’s this?” Meme. Which makes it even weirder/funnier/messed up

I mean, most white people feel the same way. We learn about it and it’s like, wtf.

They’re just losers who live online trying to outdo each other to hold the most extreme view points possible so they can stand out in their depressing little discord shitholes. It’s such a depressing reality I can’t even imagine it. No wonder they become mass shooters.

You’re also describing lemmy, except for the mass shooter part… for now. With the stochastic terrorism that dominates certain discussions (Gaza, Luigi, etc) it’s only a matter of time.

I’ve never felt the need to shift my opinions to please the crowd on lemmy. I mean if someone is really deep in certain communities that could happen, but that’s the loser part. Online chat groups shouldn’t become a focus of your identity.

Lemmy isn’t in the same realm as Groypers or neo-nazi cliques or any of that nonsense. Really?

If anyone’s feeling pretty hopeless about finding this out for the first time, I recommend this documentary about the cartoon frog’s creator suing Alex Jones and trying to take back his ownership over Pepe from the white power weirdos. It’s very uplifting and the artist is a pretty likable guy.

I did not learn what they were recently, because unfortunately I was raised on 4chan. Once you have a certain part of your brain plugged into that shithole website, certain bits of information will just make themselves available to you through the ether. You absorb information by osmosis (Jones). I wish I couldn’t. Skin me alive.

It’s like gaining eldritch knowledge. It unlocks certain aspects of reality unseen before now, at the cost of some of your sanity, driving you mad with understanding. And everyone around you thinks you’ve lost your mind

Sorry, not the inter-maga war, this was way back during Trump’s first term, when TD was still a thing. They had a whole reddit groyper “army” (terminally online TD / Musk incel fanbois) who’d show up and brigade posts on r/politics, r/news, etc.

Generally not so much that it was obvious brigading (we found coordination threads in TD), but enough to try to cast doubt on events and astroturf enough “genuine commentary from ordinary people” so it could be picked up by podcasters and influencers who could amplify the “spontaneous messages and feedback”, which would turn be picked up by the less reputable right-wing "news outlets and spread from there to Faux News. It was both fascinating and scary, watching the right wing echosphere at work in detail.

We kept trying to beat back the brigaders, but honestly it was a total whack-a-mole thing, especially since spez decided that reddit was a total free speech zone during the first presidency and that he wasn’t going to do anything to help keep things in check because he was too busy building his survival bunker and sucking up to the guys with the big money.

Not that I’m bitter or anything.

        Oh yeah: fuck spez.

I was on reddit since back when /r/spacedicks was a thing, up to a few months ago when I started getting instabanned. When tf were the groyper wars?
