  • As someone who was basically an indentured labourer (not in US), this is 100% true.

But at the same time, it was my opportunity to get out of my country. I traded a couple of years of light slavery in exchange for a potentially higher level of freedom later.

I got lucky, though, and I managed to get a good job later. Not everyone would be lucky. Some of my friends are still working in the company that brought me in (Infosys).

It’s because it’s a hollow, diluted version of an actual protest march, with no actual political action associated with it. It’s a centrist/status-quo friendly way of queer expression. It’s taking the original message “We DEMAND freedom, or we riot” and settling it down to “hey we exist too!”.

Essentially, it’s the ongoing capitalist capture of queerness.

Frankly it should be a pride PROTEST every year until equality is achieved. Fuck this “sanitisation” and corporate friendly display of numbers.

  • I subscribed to Dropout.tv thinking I’ll watch some and cancel in a month. That didn’t happen. It is packed with so much awesome and creative content, it beats youtube or any streaming platform in terms of hit/miss ratio.

I also feel good about paying money to what seems like an actually caring environment for the employees and guest cast.
