A few days ago X introduced a new AI Image Editing button that lets any user modify images posted by others, even without the original uploader’s consent. Image owners are not notified when edits are made, and the feature is enabled by default with no opt-out option (at least not so far).

Oh cute, let’s check what fascists posted today and make it into into unicorns.

I should make an app to automate that at scale.

You can download and twiddle anything you can screenshot. There is no way to garner “consent”. Was Xitter a dumpster fire already and is this feature going to make it burn faster, well yes of course. But the engagement metrics will look glorious for the shareholders for a moment, until all the adolescents get jaded again.

Why do people complain about using nazi social media despite the option of non nazi social media or not using social media at all. Like grow a fucking brain people.

Boiling frog syndrome or something like that. Same reason people have put up with the enshittification of Facebook (which to me was always shit, but whatever). They just keep making it worse over time and people say they were fine with it before and they’ll continue to be fine with it.

I do hope this convinces artists to pull out of the platform, though. Many of them insist on staying for the networking.

There’s also people who use Google/Alphabet and Facebook/Meta stuff despite knowing how much spying they’re doing and personal information they’re selling and just say “well I’m not interesting enough to harvest data from/spy on.” Yes you fucking are and that’s why these companies are worth billions (or trillions) now. Because they sold you false pride and modesty, depending on the case.

After 2022, Fuckmusk stopped documenting all the actual changes he put into the site, allowing shitheads to alter images without their creators’ consent (i.e. cosplayers).

Yeah, he’s making Mastadon and Bluesky more attractive.

Yeah, he’s making Mastadon and Bluesky more attractive.

Pretty much since the moment he bought it…

Come on, using X at this point is a meme in itself. Interaction with this vile dumpster fire only leads to results ranging from rage-inducing to straight up dystopian. I have no sympathy for its remaining users.

“A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype.”

Not OP, but lemmy is more like reddit /r/all when not browsing a specific community. It’s easy to not know specifically which one you happen to be commenting in.

Also not OP. And not everyone is coming from Lemmy. Some are coming via other federated channels that have different UIs that don’t make it entirely obvious where you’re at.

That at least took the time and ‘effort’ to save and upload twice (on mobile, yuck). There’s not even the hint of a barrier anymore, it’s all in one button.
