I suspect the last election was stolen at the polls since the prior attempt to circumvent the electoral college didn’t work. Republicans have been working to steal elections for decades and claiming Dems were fhe ones doing it.

Voter suppression and Dems shooting themselves in the dick also play a part, but cheating is the tie breaker.

If you want to do those things and it takes effort then it is just effort. If it is an obligation because the relationship will collapse if you don’t put in more effort than you want to put in, then it is work. People have different levels of effort they want to put into a relationship, and if there is a mismatch it will create work for one of them if they drag it out and that is going to put a ton of strain on the relationship.

A little work is fine as long as the overall relationship is good, but if most interactions are work then it is a terrible relationship.

Charisma isn’t a universal thing, it is about appealing to a large chunk of the population but not the population as a while. He has charisma when it comes to hateful morons who want to hear a fat old white dude spout the racist shit in their heads without any kind of moral compass that would lead to being embarrassed.

They won’t follow Vance because Vance doesn’t have the same belligerent and arrogant delivery despite saying the same hateful stuff because it is clear Vance is a try hard spineless wanna be grifter and not someone who has been an entitled shit their entire lives because they were born into wealth. Vance isn’t the strongman that the Republican party has been stoked to follow.

The relationship shouldn’t take much work at all. There are things tangential to the relationship that do take work, like finances and health issues, and all that other stuff, but if it takes a lot of work to just keep a relationship going then it probably needs to end.
