A few days ago X introduced a new AI Image Editing button that lets any user modify images posted by others, even without the original uploader’s consent. Image owners are not notified when edits are made, and the feature is enabled by default with no opt-out option (at least not so far).

You can download and twiddle anything you can screenshot. There is no way to garner “consent”. Was Xitter a dumpster fire already and is this feature going to make it burn faster, well yes of course. But the engagement metrics will look glorious for the shareholders for a moment, until all the adolescents get jaded again.
There is a difference between downloading and manually making changes vs having a built in tool do it on demand with no real time or monetary cost.
I don’t disagree, it certainly has removed all brakes and hurdles.
Or effort, or knowledge, or anything really, you need like two brain cells.
