A Chinese immigrant was found dead in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention, with his hands and feet tied behind him, an attorney has alleged.

I hate guns and always thought open-carry was stupid. I get it now. When government thugs are taking people from the street and “disappearing” them, the rest of the citizens (who won’t put up with that crap) need to be ready on the spot, while it is happening.

Isn’t this why Americans have so stridently been justifying their need for guns? To protect themselves against tyranny and government overreach? And now it happens they’re all like “Ummm. . . You first!”

At the time? In a four-against-one situation? They will vaporize you. If you decide to go 2A in the moment of an ICE kidnapping you’ll end up a page 12 story and leave your mother without a son. You’re not John Wick and they will be ready for you with body armor and better training.

If you want to serve refugee communities there are many, many ways that don’t involve the inevitable loss of your own life in extreme, violent ways.

Edit: Be real, real careful when internet tough guys try to encourage you to commit violence. People who really do stuff like this don’t talk about it first, so there’s a 100% chance what you’re reading was posted by a keyboard warrior or a fed.

Luckily ICE is taking the matter very seriously:

Newsweek asked DHS whether Ge had been tied up and whether it was cooperating with the lawsuit filed in New York. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin did not answer these questions, but repeated similar messaging on detention deaths: that ICE takes each one seriously and thoroughly investigates them all.

    Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure 🥴

And that’s not all, how about this knee-slapper:

DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, in a statement to Newsweek: “Chaofeng Ge passed away at the Moshannon Valley Processing Center. All in-custody deaths are tragic, taken seriously, and are thoroughly investigated by law enforcement. ICE takes its commitment to promoting safe, secure, humane environments for those in our custody very seriously.”

These fuckers lie through their teeth. I really really hope there is a special circle in hell just for people like this. We’ve somehow managed to find the most vile humans on the planet and put them in charge.

If you’re a bystander or intervene, they’ll have no qualms arresting you and seeing if they can deport you, and while they do that, they’ll withhold live saving medicine, food, and might even hog tie you up apparently, and if they’ve had you for 48h or more, I’d say your odds are having been murdered by them like this are much higher. If your skin is even remotely not white, you might even be trafficked across state lines before anyone knows you’ve been kidnapped.

This is such a confusing story—how does someone “hog tie” themselves before committing suicide by hanging?

The confusing part is that there’s so many details provided but the report just kind of… awkwardly buries those facts underneath a pile of other facts.

Like the story wants to make you believe that this was a case of the jail being so horrific that this person with possible mental health issues killed themself.

You know, rather than focusing on what the conditions of the body’s discovery actually imply: he was lynched in jail.

So youre getting a lot of responses, but everyone is latching on to the word hanging instead of ligature.

These are different things. Ligature does not involve the weight of the body, but a constrictive device on the neck. 3 nooses, one on hands, feet, and neck, would make you fully mobile until the rope was pulled.

Suspicious, definately. Should this place exist? No. Insane to be happening in a prison, definately. Unheard of? No.

The confusing part is the use of hanging, as that is a very different form of strangulation.

An autopsy report seen by Newsweekshowed Ge was found tied with a bedsheet, with linens around his wrists and ankles in what the report described as a “hog-tied” position.

Ah yes the ‘ol’ he shot himself in the back of the head type of suicide.

The medical examiner noted that there had been other reported incidents of people who had hung themselves having done something similar, and that there were no obvious defense wounds.

And apparently it’s an epidemic in that prison. Multiple people tying their own hands and feet behind their backs and then hanging themselves. And of course since they couldn’t / didn’t fight back it could only be self inflicted, that’s the only solution to this conundrum here.

It’s truly mystifying how any detention facility can let someone leave their room, create three nooses and then hang themselves without anyone knowing.

Sorta like Epstein managed to do to himself ofc. Really is truly mystifying.

What’s worse is the lack of mental health care which could have prevented this tragedy. Mr. Ge’s death represents a totally failure on the part of the GeoGroup and the DHS."

And damn had he just had a decent therapist, I’m sure he coulda pulled through somehow. Never mind the abduction, jail, treatment, and nazis.

Epstein killed himself because the guards and cameras were called off. Someone whispered in his ear, “Do yourself or face hell. Think on it. We’ll give you a few.”

If you’ve never spent a couple of days in county, you can hardly imagine what a billionaire was facing. ALL the privilege and leverage in the world, gone. And try to put yourself in Epstein’s shoes! Dozens of powerful men want you dead. Might as well get it over with. Epstein killed himself because he was allowed to kill himself.

If you’ve never spent a couple of days in county, you can hardly imagine what a billionaire was facing. ALL the privilege and leverage in the world, gone. Exactly.

          People really underestimate this.

Suicide risk is dramatically higher when a person is first incarcerated. The shock caused by being in a dramatically different living situation and the knowledge that this is your new reality for the rest of your life is immense even if you come from a normal background with normal struggles.

This guy was a billionaire. To there’s nothing that he couldn’t do or have (even evil and gruesome things, as we know). He was the king of his world, he had staff, multiple houses, private islands, jets, every hedonistic pleasure and experience was available to him at any time.

He went from living that life to sleeping on a tiny steel cot with a pancake-thick mattress, in a 7’x12’ box. He doesn’t control anything there, when he eats, when he sleeps, where he goes, who he talks to are all determined by other people. He doesn’t even control his own light switch.

That’s an incredibly powerful shock in a situation where we know that the risk of suicide is increased.

The fact that people see this suicide as a conspiracy is more evidence of proportionality bias (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proportionality_bias) than anything else.

Your hypothesis seems much weaker when we consider that Epstein was incarcerated for 13 months for his first conviction in 2008.
