Was looking for classic Halloween music mixes on YouTube Music the other day while carving pumpkins with my daughter. A few well known songs came up and then all of a sudden songs that were not Halloween songs started playing in the list (some were regular well ( own pop songs). I let it go on for a few minutes and started seeing a theme that the non-halloween song had a often repeated word that was associated with Halloween… Demon, spirit, spooky… So AI generated playlists based on keywords?

Then came along AI generated “Halloween classic” songs that sounded as if they were from the 1950’s. They were ok, but annoying knowing that it was just slop.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of it is just gaming the system. Drake is being sued because he used a bot army, and apparently, Drake would pop in playlists no matter what the genre was specifically because of this.

Spotify might be pushing AI music as well so they can refuse to pay out later.

Personally, I don’t really mind it though. It’s almost impossible to tell and my ears like it no matter where it’s coming from. I have made a few songs and I’m surprised how much I enjoy them. I don’t think they are even good, but I wrote the lyrics so it resonates with me on a deeper level I guess and they also feel unique since they only exist really on my phone. I haven’t shared any though and I don’t really want too.

It is fucking the whole scene but the scene was already broken long ago because of record companies.
