I’ve been saying Canada is just Diet US. Credit where it’s due, they elected the lesser dumbass. Also, healthcare. Good on y’all. Obviously Canada is better than the US but my fellow Americans act like it’s the promised land or something. The cost of living is still to damn high, and they still have the same right-wing populist idiots we have. Also, I get our bills and coins suck. Dead old white man and all but how is the fucking royals supposed to be better? I think fascist monarchs are way worse. To any Canadians offended by this, please don’t be. It was not my intent to offend you and I very much realize I am throwing stones from a glass house here. Love you guys!

Oh “we” didn’t. Carney is right there on camera with the Maxwell/Epstein/Trump/Clinton set, dudes sister in law is Ghislaine’s best friend, connected to British nobility, cousin to our previous prime minister, the whole “conspiracy” is on the fucking wikipedia pages about them. I haven’t had health insurance in 9 years. It’s provincial, not federal, despite my countrymen that think it’s a “right” because of rhetoric, not reality.

These are medium and heavy duty trucks, they’re like semi-lite lol (semi-semi?)

They make a lot more sense in literally any configuration other than pick-up truck.

          Example:

“Semi trailer” actually refers to the trailer itself, not the tractor. a “full trailer” has it’s own steer axle, think like a hay wagon. a “semi trailer” has it’s steer axle provided by the tractor pulling it. a “cart trailer” is like 2 wheeled buggies put half the weight on the propulsion device, often a horse. Anyways, when people say “semi truck”, they either don’t know or are referring to the fact of what it pulls, not itself…use it to pull anything else and it is no longer a “semi tractor”

Trucks actually started selling more when the first started mimicing the looks of semis. I think dodge was one of the first to adopt that mindset which was basically everything on the front end gets bigger.

They could get a crew van, fit more in it, and still fit in a standard parking spot.

No ground clearance on van, gona get stuck in the mud. less payload on van, can’t just drop a skid of what ever or extra long things like hydraulic cylinders into a van with out akward fucking around. less tow capacity on van, notice the tow bar on the back… What are you gona put a welder, diesel cans, gas cans, pales of hydraulic oil for equipment/ slip tanks, pumps and what not into the van too with the occupants? What about the greasy and oily ass clothes. Throw em in the van too? So they stain and fill the cab with VOCs?

This is a purpose built one off, and alot of you are out of touch with how work gets done. Not evey job is hauling standard 8x4 drywall. Alot more trades work than just slinging plaster around.

You seriously going to tell me this thing was “purpose-built” for anything more than luxury for the occupants? There are vastly more efficient ways to accomplish anything this thing can do, the only difference is that there’s a tiny bit less legroom. Literally every single one of those things can be accomplished with a modified/lifted van and maybe a trailer.

This is totally a male enhancement device due to the lift and frame length. It’s weak in the frame and real regular off-road use will crack it.

It’s a fucking joke just like the joke that drives it. “Look at me! I’m such a tough manly manchild. My beard is huge and I listen to country music even though I’ve never owned a cow and live in the suburbs.”

Real working 4x4/dually trucks tend to be factory height (little higher than factory rear wheel) as you don’t want to lift heavy shit higher than you have to. They’re also beat to hell because they do real work.

I guess you also didn’t notice the tow bar in the back. Huh. Trucks tend to sit high. So when you load them the truck levels out. Instead of squatting down in the rear. Also I don’t know if this truck is a legit tow truck but if it is, say you had a family of 5 or 6 are on a road trip in your grand caravan. Get into an accident with a dumb shit wild deer/fucking phesant/ windigo w/e or brake down cause budy guy at the last gas station was dumping a bit to much home brew corn gas in the tanks. A regular tow truck fits only 4 people. Plus driver. So now you got to wait for another veichle. Out there shits so remote that could be 30 min or 2hrs depending on the stretch of road. Now you got this pigfugly monster. Your Pacifica/oddesy/Siena is on the hook. You and your family are all in the warm cab and no one is freezing. Because it’s January. Yeah I forgot to mention it January in Alberta -30ºC

Most male enahncement devices have towing crap on them so they can tow a boat or a camper once or twice a year. It also makes the manchild feel like a big boy.

Lifted and that long means it absolutely isn’t a real truck. It’s a stupid toy.

Again, real trucks are also beat up as they’re tools, not toys.

I grew up working on a farm, I’ve been around industrial trucking my whole life since then. This isn’t a truck, it’s a toy owned by a boy with a masculinity inferiority complex.

I’d post another pic of my 98 ranger with mud, carry rack and towing hitch as well as my play farm but Lemmy isn’t taking it right now and i have shit to do.

That asshole isn’t driving a real truck otherwise he wouldn’t be taking up four spaces like that in the middle of the parking lot. He’d be parked in tne back row like not an asshole.

The frame is too long to be a real truck. He spent over $100k to have people that actually work for a living to build it for him.

Vehicles like this one are fairly common in the Alberta oil industry areas, and while they are overbuilt, they’re driving on roads that are worse than the ones through the old Bundeswehr training areas around Munster…if you took a Volkswagen transporter to a job site there, first you’d rip off the exhaust system, quickly followed by snagging the suspension components on something.

Here’s a picture taken of an oilfield truck from Montana. (Sorry for the r link.)

Hey dipshit there are only 4 places in the world that have oil sands. Canada, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Venezuela. So ther is no need for shit like this in Europe. Also the natural resource exploration pales in comparison to the rest of the world. Because Europe imports most of their natural resources from places that use “emotional support veichles”. Also in europe, more often then not your job site isn’t going to be 500km+ away from your origin. I’ve been in a many vans, fuck if I’m going to sit in a cramped ass tin can for 8hrs listening to road noise on an uncomfortable ass captains chair. When I can just sit in my lazy boy recliner in a quiet cab where I don’t have to yell to talk to guy beside me.

Okay, I don’t want to get into the entire thing why exploiting oil sands is clearly not a necessity and maybe a pretty terrible idea. I agree Europe imports way too many fossil fuels. But switching to alternatives with less reliance on others is clearly a more sustainable strategy.

Oh I agree there. Fuck the oil sands, garbage low quality oil that takes a massive toll on the environment, a low quality oil incomparison to other types. Cost way to much to extract. And costs way to much to refine. Hell i think there is only like one refinery in the states that even has the ability to refine that garbage. If gasoline sold for 1.10 per L or less, there would be no profits.

I thought the same, but there may be a very specific combination of conditions where this could make sense: bad roads where ground clearance is needed, no sharp curves that require shorter wheel base, need to take 8 people and need to take their tools/materials. but probably they did just because they could

Honestly, those conditions sound like pretty much exactly what I’d expect working oil in Alberta, and given the cost to make that horrific of a modification, it wouldn’t suprise me if it was something used for work.

It also would not suprise me if it was some jerk with more money than sense, esspecially as this wouldn’t necessarily conflate with the first.

Yeah this seems way too expensive to not have a specific use. I would assume this vehicle needs to transport 6+ people and also a bunch of stuff. There are plenty of vanity trucks you can buy without customizing a third seating row, that’s easily a 6-figure job.

It’s really not that bad, cab n chassis frame for a 12 foot deck, put a box on, find a wrecked truck with a 4 door and cut off the rear section. A good body guy can pull this off cheaper than you’d think…if you started with a 5 year old quad cab and chassis and a wrecked from front end damage rear of cab fine body and box, you could get it done price of a new truck, remember new trucks are 150 grand in Alberta now, full load.

          Please.

I’m from Alberta. This is just big dick energy.

Besides, there are 4x4 crew vans with lift kits that the oil sands mines use to address the issues you’re talking about. Those are most certainly cheaper than this monstrosity, and if it was a work thing he’d have to have company decals on it.

Nope. Required to have 4 wheel drive, and a diesel motor, for pipeline or drilling rig work. No gasoline or propane engines, greater explosion risk. Vans really, really suck off road, I have both a pickup and a van, both chevy, both old, both 2wd. There is no comparison between the truck and van off road or dirt roads, even though same powertrain. Ones a pavement princess. Now, a Suburban diesel 4x4 almost fits the bill, but no box for carrying whatever tools you need to take to the rig, or a welder.

As someone who drove a 4 wheel drive van 20 plus years ago, you are talking nonsense.

As someone who lives in Ab and also has had to drive to a few camps, you are talking extra nonsense. I used an all wheel drive car and helped pick up the plastic shit that falls off all the trucks on site, since they are shit.

This thing is just a dick extension.

I am literally telling you about oilfield policy and regulations, but sure, go off, anyone who actually knows can see who is making a fool of themselves right now. Yes, you can sometimes take other things on site, but there is a requirement to have at least one 4x4 pickup and the diesel requirement is real. 20 years ago is 20 years ago, I used to use a 2wd chevy 3/4 ton gasser too.

okay hold on, do other countries not have buses that aren’t operated as public transport? do hockey teams in canada take a whole fleet of cars to matches or do they just fly for half an hour?

here in sweden at least it’s completely standard to just buy or rent a bus when you have like 8+ people who need to go somewhere.

they’re operated as public transport, it’s just that lines aren’t well connected.

it’s nowhere near as viable to rely on public transport in north america as it is in europe.

It is. Stuff like this is usually built on a “cube van” factory extended cab n chassis frame, where the normal pickup box would fit on, bolt up like factory, but leave a 2 or three foot gap between a normal cab and the front of the box.

It seems to be too long. I doubt it would be road legal here. And if it was, by some absurd event, it would probably fall under C category, which is for heavy load vehicles. It would not be something someone would park in a supermarket parking lot.

AfaIk, to put a vehicle into category car (class B) or truck (class C/C1), its length doesn’t matter. The only important factor is the maximum permitted total mass, which is 3.5 t for a ‘car’ or 7.5 t for a light truck (C1) or ‘unlimited’ for a regular truck ©.
Essentially, this the limiting factor here to be considered as class B ‘car’: As the empty mass of that vehicle is probably quite large, it’s subsequently not permitted to be loaded with noteworthy amount of freight, to remain below 3.5 t, perhaps not even the 5 people that would fit inside.
Thus, if it’s not completely hoax, it only is allowed to be driven by those that have a C1 licence, which is either professionals or, e.g. in Germany, older people who’ve had that included in their ‘class 2’ licence.

In Canada, this thing would have a max gvw roughly around 5500kg and it would weigh about 3, 3500 empty, depending, so max capacity around 2000 kg. That’s just a normal license here, the other categories really don’t start until 10,000 gvw. Non north americans tend to find that odd, but it’s not like we aren’t taught how to drive these things same as you guys, categories just differ.

As I’ve said, in Germany, until 1998, people got a class 2 ‘car’ driver’s licence for vehicles up to 7.5 t and learned driving on a VW Beetle or Golf.

I have a vague idea there is a limit to the dimensions of a vehicle before it is classified into another category but I will not insist on it.

You didn’t notice that monstrosity has three rows of doors? It’s probably a 2+3+3 or 2+2+2. So, at least, six passengers.

But I agree. It would most probably fall under C category here, making it a commercial vehicle.

Yes, according to German law (it’s probably similar in the rest of EU), the limit is 12 m for cars and 18 m for trucks. Yet, afaIk, it doesn’t affect the type of driver’s licence necessary for driving such a vehicle.

You didn’t notice that monstrosity has three rows of doors? It’s probably a 2+3+3 or 2+2+2. So, at least, six passengers.

Yes, but the driver legally doesn’t count as passenger and (a part of him) enters the mass of the ‘empty’ vehicle with 70 kg. So it’s either 5 or 7 passengers.

See we don’t even really have a max length, the usual rule is 23 or 27 meters (depends on province but most interprovincial guys obviously follow the smaller limit) but if you want to be longer, then it’s yearly or monthly permits. Regina to Saskatoon on highway 11, 39 meter combos are common.

Too much truck, not enough dick, as they say.

Slide under the midpoint with a battery powered angle grinder or a sawzall and cut 3/4 of the way through one side of the frame. Then you just let physics do the rest when they hit a good hard bump.

Xanthan gum and muriatic acid will make a nice corrosive paste that might do the trick if you’re into edging with your sabotage.

Nitrile gloves, thicker the better. It will break them down but it will take a while. The fumes are chlorine gas, but aren’t that bad if you’re outside. What you really have to watch out for is getting it in your eyes, wear goggles.

Baking soda will neutralize it, so you might want a gallon of water and some baking soda on hand. It will burn your skin if you leave it on you, but it takes a minute and you have time to just wash it off.

Paint brush would be a good way to apply it.

I would not say common, but they certainly exist. I’ve only seen maybe a couple in person here in, let’s say the very central U.S. There are no factory produced trucks like that as far as I’m aware, these are all (very expensive, I’m sure) aftermarket or custom conversions, on top of the already $60k-100k truck.

Even if you somehow need a vehicle this size, you can park it in a way that it only takes up two spaces, not four.
