The human face needs to come from an actual human and be stretched with spikes poking through, but otherwise i agree.
“Sustainable Capitalism” , good Orwellian oxymoron!
Whats next, “Gentle Fascism”?
Anarcho-capitalism …aka edgy libertarian.
I hate that “Libertarianism” in US-english means those “free” market dumbasses.
It actually meant anarchist (anti-capitalist) originally and was a euphemism for anarchist when it was banned to be one. It still means that in French generally.
I mean, it’s not atypical for Americans to completely redefine a political definition so badly it loses all meaning. Just look at how most of us define our “leftist” leadership…
“liberal” meaning left is a decent example as well.
Yeah… Our education system isn’t big on political history, or really history in general.
Idk I went to a public HS and we had a good coverage of the gilded age. Reflecting on that as I got older is a big part of why I moved away from thinking capitalism is good.
yall seem to learn plenty about the glorious colonialists who brought civilisation (/s)
When you do it it’s tyranny…when we do its democracy manifesting freedoms. You see the difference? Your soldiers had kings, our soldiers have burger king, it’s eloquently simple when you think about it.
Didnt used to! Was an active propaganda campaign.
I mean, we have a political party called the “Republicans” and they’re really obsessed with giving their head honcho king-like authority. Everything over here makes no sense.
Not anarchism but freedom of authority
Anarcho-liberalism
victoria 2 flashbacks
Anarcho monarchism is something people youve heard of genuinely believe in.
It does require believing in magic.
Because other systems are much more sustainable. Just ask folks in Norilsk. Or Lake Karachay. Or pripyat. Or the Aral sea. Or…
Ah yes, the only possible systems are Capitalism and the Soviet Union, which in practice was basically state Capitalism.
We have China, want to talk about that? Cuba? Oh, oh… North Korea??
…. Yeah, state capitalism.
You’re not gonna tell me countries with billionaires, capital accumulation, market logic, are communist?
The main exception is north korea but that’s just a totalitarian planned economy.
Cuba is capitalist? The things I learn on lemmy… Someone should let the Americans know!
Cuba has corporations, billionaires, and “free” (neoliberal) trade.
Just because they fly a red flag and call themselves communist doesn’t make them such.
Gotcha.
Your point isn’t that the PRC is good for the environment?
China is pretty capitalist and incredibly environmentally destructive.
Huge amounts of waste incineration for the huge amounts of waste. . Restaurants will serve you in disposable plastic tubs with one use chopsticks, wrapped in plastic, because:
- It powers the economy, and gotta chase those GDP numbers.
- It’s convenient, and is the PRC loves convenience over life more than an ironic stage persona of Jello Biafra.
My point is that all countries are pretty non-sustainable, it’s not a capitalism thing. Maybe costa Rica, Iceland or Norway could be an exception if squint a lot.
Commodity Driven Modernity is absolutely non-sustainable, I agree.
As a country Iceland comes close, and possibly could be sustainable with minor changes you’re right. The others, I know less about the situation of.
Sustainable capitalism = a boot stamping on a human face - forever.
“crony capitalism” 😂
state capitalism too
