He tried to actually prohibit it, but I told him no, not politely. My landlord seems to hate them, too. They were trying to get his attention on the sidewalk a while back, and he barked at them “I told you that I don’t want to hear from you unless your place is on fire!” He likes us, though.
But ever since Trump took office again, and ICE started rounding people up, these people have been SILENT. No banging on the ceiling , no dirty looks, no monopolizing the courtyard, etc.
I’m pretty sure they’re just flying under the radar, knowing that we could make their lives miserable with one phone call. I wouldn’t do it, but if the tables were turned, I have no doubt that they would dime us out in a heartbeat.

I feel like that is overly reductive. These are people who are seeing their lives become harder year over year, and are being handed a convenient scapegoat by people they were taught to trust.
