DS9 s5e14 “In Purgatory’s Shadow”
You’ve come a long way
So you can say: It’s been a long road?

Oh YOU HAD TO dammit
Andrew Robinson was so good at emoting through the makeup that sometimes I forget he’s not actually a Cardassian.
He’s so good at portraying Garak that I seriously can’t tell which recurring guest star is my favorite. My current top three are him, Jeffrey Combs obvi, and John de Lancie.
Garak and Beshir were pretty much the bromance of the 24th century
Star Trek: Lower Decks made it cannon.
An alternate universe version where Bashir is a sentient hologram but yes, yes they did.
Eat shit, Rick fucking Berman!
Fuck you Rick Berman!
What is it with Ricks?
? What did they do? Can’t stand that show so I’ll never see it. Spoil me rotten!
Alternate dimensions involved, but one is a hologram and they’re a married couple.
They keep bickering, and at one point, it turns out that Garak just really enjoys bickering and will pick an opposing point even if that’s not what he wants.
Not only are they not from the prime universe, but they are not even from the same universe as each other. And this alternate Bashir was actually just a hologram, as well. Lower Decks was a mess.
Star Trek overall is a mess, but what do you expect when you put people in charge who don’t like Star Trek, lower decks at least had people in charge who liked Star Trek.
For real. That show could easily have leaned into making fun of Star Trek just for being Star Trek. But the writers chose to punch up instead and just point out the obviously absurd from an in-universe perspective. Like the idea of ships having giant store rooms to put all of their
doomsday weaponsalien artifacts, and then ENSIGNS of all people being responsible for cleaning/maintaining said room and artifacts.
Maybe I’m remembering it wrong but wasn’t Bashir a changeling at this point?
Except that wasn’t Bashir and rather than find it suspicious he let his guard down.
Can you really trust Garak’s reaction though? At any point in the show?
He could have just as easily put it together that this wasn’t the real Bashir, hell this could have been a test because he was already suspicious. This is where Garak begins to weave his trap, and he’s loving it.
He is very clearly surprised when the real Bashir is shoved into the cell block at the internment camp.
And to not give away his hand, plays along.
IDK why, but I read the title as if it were Janeway talking to the EMH until the attribution and it kinda hit different, ya know?
And now I am trying to remember if Voyager ever explores the mirror universe? 🤔 I think that was a comic book thing and is mentioned in STO? I’m blazed af rn so… lol
Only in PRO did we get Mirror Janeway and Chakotay. Though, they did at least pull from the existing comics.
