I want a society with bored, old people.

I want people to be able to be healthy well into old age, to have saved enough to sustain themselves comfortably when they were young, and for the concerns of continued existence to be nonexistent.

I want to see the neighbor who sits on their porch watching the world go by, is able to lend a hand when needed, and shares their hard-earned wisdom freely. I want them to volunteer to help their community, to work for the enjoyment instead of necessity, and labor to secure the future against the perils they have lived through.

I want things made with time and love instead of bought from a shelf and made with suffering and exploitation. I want artisans to succeed and creators to make freely. I want heirlooms that are soaked in the lives of those who loved and were loved.

I want to believe the world can still be a good place.

I want to live in a society that isn’t predicated on the exploitation, torture, and murder of innocent, vulnerable individuals. Where people won’t dog pile with excuses for their cruelty and violence, because they’re actively trying to avoid being cruel and violent instead of actively looking for rationalizations.

Well that’s fine and dandy and all but but maybe stop for a second and check your skin privilege. You’re walking around, covered in all that skin, and there’s people out there that could be using it. For things. Skin things.

Life is so much better when you don’t give a shit about work. It pays enough because I live in a country with a reasonable minimum wage. Well, outside of London its plenty anyway.

If they pay me enough, abso-fucking-lutely. Government pension, plenty of work, designed to make things take time. If I could have a slightly bigger house and a bigger garage I’d be set.

My dream job is one where I don’t have to “take it home” with me, that pays enough for me to survive comfortably, provide for my family, and I’m not over worked and stressed all the time.

Bonus points if I can do the job 100% remotely.

I don’t think that’s a crazy ask, but bluntly, I can’t find anything like it.

I just want to sit on my porch with my dog and a bowl, maybe a few good beers too.
