Our real estate photographer “digitally staged” a few of our prictures at the recommendation of our realtor. When I was looking for our current house, that meant adding digital furniture to show what a room could look like. Instead, this photographer fed the pics into some ai editor that changed a bunch of shit in the pictures in addition to adding furniture. I was livid. It wasn’t even well done, it added extra lights in the middle of mirrors, added fake switches, put in fake door trim, etc…
I’ve noticed clearly ai images in a ton of listings. You don’t know what the hell you’re getting until you show up to look at it. So much worse than the staged photos from a few years ago.
Even just “retouched” pictures are really bad, colors that the human eye cannot perceive, angles that look like an mc escher painting, and lighting that would set fire to most synthetic materials. The fake grass copy/paste is pretty bad on its own. Adding the ai stuff should be material misrepresentation/false advertising.
I just don’t understand it either, what are they hoping for? Do they think that someone is going to hit buy it now after seeing the pictures, then not fight them about how it isn’t like the pics?

I assume it’s about competing with other listings just to get you in the door. Which inevitably leads to a letdown.
