The moderators of a pro-artificial intelligence Reddit community announced that they have been quietly banning “a bunch of schizoposters” who believe “they’ve made some sort of incredible discovery or created a god or become a god,” highlighting a new type of chatbot-fueled delusion that started getting attention in early May.

If we already got Trump without the LLMs, I can’t imagine the kind of psycho crazy shit we’re going to get in the future fueled by LLMs. Hold onto your butts.

Unfortunately the LLMs will not, like in most things, actually exceed the base human ability to come up with crazy fucking shit. If it wasn’t an LLM it would be attributing meaning to the motion of the stars and murdering people over it

I mean that it will empower them to generate a lot more crazy stuff. They can write more text, create more websites, maybe apps, maybe companies, maybe political movements, to support their crazy theories.

Based on the self description of that community, calling others schizotypical is some incredibly pot calling the kettle shit. A community focused on the “singularity” that formed to ban “decels” because they couldn’t operate within the same space complaining about these other guys being too strange and out there.

Schizotypal here, please leave us out of both groups. Looking for stuff to call god on the outside is more of an OCD and normie thing, “please, universe, unveil your rules so that I may follow” and “please, skydaddy, hug me”, respectively. We’re self-directed with our nonsense.
