Today, as an old guy, I was cleaning our glass top stove. The Weiman cleaner is in the cupboard above the stove. I squirted a bunch on the dirty rings and then realized its normally white not blue paste.
Turns out I grabbed the Cascade Complete dishwasher liquid. Duh.
I started to wipe it and realized it was pulling off the baked on food better than the stove cleaning product.
Best it has looked in 5 years.
P.s. made sure to fully rinse all of it off so no residue remained.

i don’t remember which soap or cleaning podcast that i was listening to that said that out of the common household cleaners dishwasher liquid is one that has the highest percentage surfactant per gram or whatever. neat testimonial.
Along with that, dishwasher detergent is very concentrated, and useful for cleaning anything really greasy, or when you need it to not foam up (bottles/jars).
I would presume that powdered dishwasher detergent is as concentrated as you can get?
Its really true wasteful really that most household cleaning products is mostly water. Instead you could buy a years worth in concentrated form and dilute with tap water instead of ship around shit tons of water adding to the carbon footprint.
I have narrowed down my cleaning repertoire to strong hand dishing soap, baking soda, white vinegar, linseed oil soap (for the wooden floor) Depending on the application I just mix the appropriate things
The problem lies in how dangerous some of the chemicals get when you concentrate them past a certain amount. A lot of people would end up getting pretty seriously hurt trying to dilute pure acids or blow something up improperly storing concentrated peroxide. Don’t get me wrong, capitalism is what has led to dish soaps being barely more than water these days, but you can buy the concentrated versions of a lot of stuff and see for yourself how dangerous even having some of them laying around can be.

How is yours not covered in scratches? Even if managed to get mine that clean it would just show off all the scratches.
Some are just beter made than others. I had the one in my old apartment for 11 years and never managed to scratch it. New one in our new house was scratched after a couple of months.
It’s all about the top material. It has to be harder than the materials you use on top of it ib pots and pans.
But, whatever material is harder scratches the other, so if you’re not scratching the top of the stove you’re scratching the bottom of the cookware… Unless you’re crazy and use lube on your stove lol

We are careful I guess, but also use with heavy bottom pots and cast iron pans. They are heavy so they don’t move/slide around during frying stuff or stirring. And lift to move them instead of dragging.
Our kids have moved out so things stay in good shape longer LOL

A razor blade scraper does wonders too
My wife would probably divorce me if she caught me using a razor on it, even though I know they work well.
In her head razors cut things and make slices, and she doesn’t grasp the inclined flat blade skimming over top can’t do a slicing action.
My old stove came with a razor scraper for cleaning. I bet the manual for yours recommends using one. Maybe show her the manual. I wouldn’t have been able to clean it thoroughly without the razor.

The liquid we have has a slight grit to it.
The pod is mostly powder with a swirl of goo, I’ll try mixing them to make a paste.

As someone who did auto detailing decades ago, razors are how you get everything off glass.
And then triple-Zero (000) steel wool. Don’t use anything other than actual 000.
And then there are plastic razor blades for getting stickers off paint.
Razor blades aren’t usually hard enough to scratch tempered glass in the first place, they are used professionally to clean scale on outdoor windows.
I would hope she is aware of the existence of shaving blades which are the exact same things except glass is far stronger than skin.
I have found it is not worth the friction 😀. She also has a way she wants the dishwasher loaded, even though I can run Computational Fluid Dynamics software at home, and show her why another (my) method is probably better.

I’ve used a razor to scrape down our shower door before. If you’re not careful you can inadvertently scratch things with the corners of the blade. Ask me how I know…

Ah, “LAs Totally Awesome” works really well on oven grease removal. I buy the plain carpet cleaner solution from them, it is super versatile for stuff other than carpets.

I’m working in a workshop where grease gets everywhere. So we have this big vat of industrial soap. I swear to god u never realised how weak regular household soap was till using that shit.
IDK, we used Dawn on the rigs when we got covered in oil. There’s some shit called rig wash, was never as good at cutting that stuff. I’ve kept using it in the shop and it outperforms the garbage I’ve bought from Permatex or that red Fred’s stuff.
Except the old Permatex, I had a couple tubs of the original stuff I got at an auction, and it was seriously excellent. Always kinda wondered what cancerous shit was in it that they stopped making it that way. Only thing that worked that good is gasoline.
The stuff we have comes as a dry powder and u just put water in it making a thick slurry that cuts right through all the shit. Its also got like sand abrasive shit in it.

I find the jet dry liquid for the dishwasher does a pretty good job of cleaning off stainless steel without leaving streaks. Kinda makes sense, it’s used in the dishwasher to prevent your dishes from getting streaky.
Squirting some toilet duck on the silicone around your bathtub will get rid of mold. Bleach obviously works better, but you gotta get gloves on and not get it on anything so it’s more of a pain in the ass.
