If you have 12 bad cops and 1301 good cops and one of the 1301 tries to report the 12 and the other 1300 try to get the 1 fired and the 1 fired cop decides the only real justice is street justice you have 1312 bad cops and Christopher Dorner

This run-on sentence is brought to you by caffeine and mental illness 🩶

Hey that was a simple case of mistaken identity. It is so easy to confuse a grey Nissan Titan with a blue Toyota Tacoma. I mean, anyone could have made that mistake. They’re practically identical! And they were latinas too. Every elderly or middle-aged Latina looks just like a bald black man. Haven’t you been to Walmart?

I’ve got one real problem with your post tho. For real. 47 isn’t old old. Right? Right!?

If you have 12 bad cops and 1300 good cops, you’re operating in the realm of fantasy.

ACAB, because power corrupts and police power corrupts absolutely.

Also maybe like take their guns away and make them ride bicycles and require they pick up every piece of litter they see, block traffic with their bodies while people use crosswalks. Also make it completely volunteer work, no pay, no pensions, just a bike and a hi-vis vest you can borrow for 8hrs at a time.

Because it releases ethylene gas which speeds up ripening, this is also how unripe fruit gets transported across the world then “ripened” before hitting the grocery shelf

So … the good cops huff the bad cop farts and become bad

By that same logic: if there are 1000 good retail workers and 10 bad ones, and the 1000 good ones don’t speak up about the 10 bad ones, you have 1010 bad retail workers… Not sure about that.

It’s also not the job of cops to arrest people that are not in their district/responsibility area/whatever. That would be like the person responsible for the cash register stocking Isle 13 because the other employee isn’t doing it. If that person manages to do both, mad respect, but it’s not something that should be expected.

Corruption in the police is everywhere. I would bet that there are almost no cops that havent witnessed a colleague do something illegal during their duty. Its not far away, its everywhere and up close and yet cops always decide to turn a blind eye.

My understanding of a “bad cop” is a police officer who harms people for fun and personal gain, often in illegal ways, and with little to no repercussions.

What is a bad retail worker exactly? Do they steal cleaning supplies? Are they rude to customers? Do they fail to use the stock room’s organizational system?

We’re all human here. No false equivalence. Abuse of power and wrongdoing happen regardless of the chosen career.

You should stop discriminating between people. We ain’t that different, no matter how much some would love to paint it true.

Because it’s not given to them.

But really, how many food service workers spit or throw snot in the food they serve? How many with infectious disease contaminate what unknowing victims eat? Not many, maybe 10 out of 1000, maybe less.

But yeah, that’s false equivalence because it ain’t exactly the same thing. It’s not abuse of power and wrongdoing in the exact same way so it doesn’t qualify. Gotta give retailers guns so they shoot customers instead. That’s when we’ll be allowed to compare the two.

Got any sources for your food tampering claims?

And can you back those claims up with the evidence of all the other fast food workers defending the “bad apples,” or, at the very least, remaining silent re your food tampering claims?

And how about that massive fat food workers union litigating for and defending said food tampering?

Cos, i can point to MOUNTAINS of evidence of the police doing all of that.

Sweetheart, no matter how much you love and lick those boots, they’ll never love you back.

Wow, how condescending can you even get…

And also amazing how you claim it’s a false equivalency (yes, one is much more serious than the other, that doesn’t make it a false equivalency), and then continue on the comparison and then actually turn it into a false equivalency. Because a police officer shooting someone will make it into the news. Someone spitting into someone’s food will not - and that’s assuming it’s even noticed.

What if the good ones tell their union to fight for the bad ones?

What if a couple proactive employees try to get the bad ones fired, and the rest of the employees bully the proactive ones and try to get them fired instead?

It’s difficult to express nuance in a meme. It’s easy to pick apart a meme if one is an obtuse pedantic twat

when’s the last time a retail worker ended someone’s life in the course of their duties and got away with it.?

the point is that we give these maniacs guns, minimal training that focuses on making them scared for their lives, and damn near immunity from prosecution, then act surprised when they panic and shoot innocent people. how this shit happens is blazingly obvious and a matter of public concern. the anger comes from the adamant refusal to even admit that there is a problem, let alone do anything to fix the red hot glowing issues.

but also, yes retail workers could do better, but that’s more up to their employer. the reason we feel we can affect police is because these are public employees who’s checks we pay for. these changes need to be systemic. they need to change the basics of who how and why police get trained and deployed. that is government reform. that is a voting issue. walmart employees could also do better if Walmart payed them better, gave them more time off to be with family when needed, gave better health insurance, provided better training and outside opportunities to their employees. but we know walmart won’t do this things because they only care about profit. the police have no such obligation. their only obligation should be to us, but right now it’s mostly just to the people with the money.

i could probably keep tearing your argument apart for 5 more paragraphs, but that woulf be obssesive. point is, you’re conflaiting the point. it’s not about individual gumption that good cops should turn others in. it’s just a counter argument to “don’t let a few bad apples spoil the bunch”. we know that good cops speaking up won’t help, that’s the point. they get squeezed out when they try. that’s why the changes need to be more systemic. the bad cops are entrenched and defended by moneyed interests.

the anger comes from the adamant refusal to even admit that there is a problem, let alone do anything to fix the red hot glowing issues.

Let me just state this: police violence makes me furious as well, and it also makes me really frustrated that there are so many people who will defend anything the police does. The solution to that is not jumping to the other extreme. That just deepens the trenches, and holy hell are they deep already.

Better training, more accountability, better conditions to attract more of the right kind of people to the job, I’m all for it. Let’s not paint them all with one brush, because many are really in it for the right reasons. Because there’s also the cop that spends years investigating a murder so that the perpetrator is caught before the next victim that arises. That finds answers for the family of a missing loved one. That finds that missing loved one. That breaks apart an organized crime ring that regularly assassinated people. Or even that gave that one pissed off person his 14th speeding ticket which made him slow down just enough to avoid a fatal accident. Are those also all bad cops?

        So essentially, this:

these changes need to be systemic. they need to change the basics of who how and why police get trained and deployed. that is government reform. that is a voting issue

        is exactly the point.

Maybe 1 in a million, that’s like an exception to the rule. It is true for every country.

If good cops follow Omerta, not report bad cops, let bad cops get by with breaking laws, don’t testify against law breaking amongst them. They are bad cops if not today then potentially tomorrow. Eventually they all turn.

The difference is that retail workers aren’t tasked with enforcing the law, cops are.

When “good” cops don’t speak up about cops violating the law they’re actually putting their jobs on hold for the benefit of bad cops.

Retail workers aren’t paid to enforce behavior, they’re paid to sell consumer goods. If 1000 “good” retail workers stopped working just to support 10 bad ones, they would be 1010 bad ones. But 1000 retailer workers who ignore the lazy guys and keep selling stuff are doing their jobs just fine.

By that logic 1% Americans voted for Orange Hitler, 99% wanted something else but did nothing therefore 100% Americans are fascism supporters.
