Christ, what was the thought process? “Hey, only a small fraction of the population wears necklaces regularly. What on fucking earth should we make our flagship product that is meant to appeal to as many people as possible?”

You’re looking at this wrong. How many employees wear a lanyard?

From a business case its brilliant. Dystopian as fuck but brilliant. Every McDonalds manager now has a high def camera that can be voice activated around their neck, Every Walmart greeter and shift supervisor, every Home Depot Dept head…

Sketchy looking guy near the expensive power tools? “Pineapples 'Hi sir can I help you with anything today?”

Need to ask someone to leave? “Pineapples Ok, we cant allow that in the restaurant. You need to leave please”

      See a sketchy looking person

I agree this is a dumb product. My guess is they think pockets are occupied with phones, which will be the interface for these things. They must doubt smart glasses for form or some reason, hence necklace. I have 0 interest in wearing a body cam that reports everything back to some server. I’ve got enough trackers on my body already.

Its not a consumer product, its a big business product. You just turned every Walmart staff member into a walking security camera that also monitors the staff member.
