“Tit” and “mouse” in English both come from words that mean “small”. “Titmouse” is “smallsmall”.
So when I search pictures I search for bigsmalls…
Different etymology of “tit”, that one is from “teat”.
I like the German bird names much better than the goofy english ones. Blaumeise is just poetic.
Honestly one of my favorite birds, though. They’re just adorable.
I like the chirps :)
They are like finches, but more colorful
And, frankly, I’d rather see one of these birds than either a tit or a mouse.
The less colorful tufted titmouse common around here is actually my favorite variety. But honestly I just love birds.

I just live the little mohawk
Aw… It’s like a titmouse for the fall
Also one of the only birds that exists in wintertime (the great tit). Everyone else flies south here
Very strange photo. Doesn’t look like any type of titmouse I know and the original photo being from britannica.com has it as a blue tit, which isn’t technically a type of titmouse, but the color doesn’t match that image. It seems like the photo they used to put at the top of the article is some sort of composite.
That’s a bluetit…?
It’s actually a great tit. They look very similar though.
I can only tell the difference when I see the two together!
Disappointing isn’t it!
I zoomed in on that depraved photo because they’re so cute.
Yep. So round and perfect.
The great tit is even more unsatisfying
What about a pair of booby’s?
Not even a mammal.
Makes great animations though
