Evil Hank says, “Taste the heat, not the meat!” as he burns you alive with his propane flamethrower. You can’t burn a man alive with charcoal.

Yes but would be relatively inconvenient. The way they did it in Nigeria would be luxurious in comparison(tire around the neck).

It’s wild. Growing up with gas, I was always on Hank’s side. Now as an adult with a charcoal grill, I just don’t understand. :(

If I wanted a clean, convenient, and flavor-neutral method of cooking my meat then I would just stay in the kitchen where I have a variety of electric and natural gas appliances very capable of doing so.

“Grilling” with propane is just silly. Idk maybe there’s some merit to camp stoves while camping, but that’s only if you can’t use firewood for some reason.

I never understood either. To me, gas was always about convenience. It’s faster and easier than charcoal, but does it taste better?

Charcoal is better than propane. It’s carbon neutral, renewable, and the entire point of grilling is the flavorful carcinogens.

All the carbon in wood came from the atmosphere.

The carbon in petrochemicals came out of the ground, and releasing it into the atmosphere via combustion changes the overall amounts and proportions of gasses in the atmosphere.

To be honest, I’ve never looked into how industrial charcoal is produced. It’s possible some kilns are gas fired. I don’t know.

When it’s done in the traditional manner, the energy comes from the wood itself. You ignite it, cook off the volatiles, then starve it of oxygen.

Hank Hill is a die-hard Republican, fiercely loyal to his grifter of a boss at the propane store. Of course he’s going to advocate for the bland, simple taste of meat cooked by propane. He’s not adventurous and he definitely wouldn’t betray his brand.
