Most conservatives are socially minded … the only difference is that they want all those socially minded ideas to only apply to their particular ethnic or racial group and no one else. To them, every other racial group should serve their social agenda for their people’s benefit.

Throwing others under the bus is an easy way to turn racists into political allies. It was a popular strategy in the first rise of fascism for obvious reasons, for example the Greek party wanted to genocide Turkey to Make Greece Great Again. FDR’s coalition was put together under the premise that black people wouldn’t get the same benefits, etc etc etc.

We could probably curb most illegal immigration by imposing harsh penalties for anyone found employing people illegally, but no one’s ever gonna go after the owner class. Not that I think it’s desirable to have fewer immigrants mind you.
