Considering they’re currently deporting legal immigrants, dreamers, and actual citizens, it was never about illegal immigration. The Democrats pretending like illegal immigration was an issue to take seriously and deporting more people than the Republicans never won them an ounce of support from the real racist base. It only normalized the Republican position.
