U.S. Vice-President JD Vance made a series of posts criticizing Canada’s political leadership, public broadcaster and immigration system, saying our living standards are “stagnating” because of all the “foreign-born” people living here.

In posts to his X account Friday, Vance says Canada’s elected leaders have created “immigration insanity” by leaning into diversity.

“While I’m sure the causes are complicated, no nation has leaned more into ‘diversity is our strength, we don’t need a melting pot, we have a salad bowl’ immigration insanity than Canada,” he said.

That’s funny, every survey I’ve seen that ranks real quality-of-life (or some subset of it) for the inhabitants of various countries puts Canada ahead of the US.

So what’s your country’s excuse, Mr. Vance?

It’s funny how your point of view shifts when Instead of calling them immigrants, you start calling them people.

I think everyone acknowledges Canada has brought in too many immigrants recently, but it’s not bad because immigrants are inherently bad, it’s bad because we’ve brought them here under false pretenses. They are expecting that we will be able to provide opportunity and wealth that they could not get elsewhere, and we have far, far outstripped the economy, in its current configuration, necessary to deliver that. Our government did a stupid. Probably intentionally. And it will have consequences, which will be many. And people will blame immigrants for those consequences. But it’s not their fault. It’s the government who has robbed them, and us, of the economic necessities to better ourselves. We’re in the same sinking boat as the immigrants. We can throw them out of the boat if we think it’ll float a little better with less weight, but really we would be better off teaming up with them to stop all the assholes drilling holes in the bottom.

His issue isn’t about economics though, his issue is about racism. He’ll just dress it up in economics when it’s convenient to do so.

Sorry couldn’t hear you over your citizens healthcare premiums going up and our universal healthcare. What was that about living standards again?

Yeah they’re just skwaking like crones trying to distract from their own issues, Vance is basically a mouthpiece junior, like anyone would consider him a leader there. If yam tits croaked he wouldn’t be first in line in a proper upheaval. Mean props if he managed it but he’s a douche.

Actually the South Park episode with the Canada wall did it well…what’s over there? don’t worry about it buddy. Yeah you keep to your oppressiveness and we’ll keep to our side of the border. It’s all good, right buddy?

If they don’t want to see it they won’t. Though I’m worried when their revolution comes being next door and all.

      universal healthcare

As long as you don’t have teeth, eyes, mental health troubles, require medication or take an ambulance.

Well teeth is age based now, mental health and medication is covered in BC if your mental health application goes through for disability status.

It’s in bad shape right now, thanks to hillbillies harassing them until they retired. It’s gonna take yeeeeaars to fix, just as soon as we can pay any attention to it.

But, here the thing: I know from my experience that access to healthcare is no better for their system; just your bank account will dictate whether you get an ambulance or not.

It ain’t perfect. But it’s much better than the class / wage based access shit show that is American healthcare.

Going pretty hard against the in-laws today, aren’t we Jimmy?

Speaking of cultural salad bowls, you’re a Roman Catholic omnivore, and your wife is a Hindu vegetarian.

There has got to be a joke in here about midwestern jello salad but I can’t figure it out.

ETA: I looked up his Wikipedia to confirm my suspicions about the vegetarian wife and wow, people aren’t using an altered meme photo, that’s his actual official portrait?!!

Capitalism is the problem. Capitalism is what caused the excess influx of immigration since the only workers corps want to hire need to work for minimum wage or less. Immigrants and TFW and International students are needed to accept those conditions on the mistaken belief that a year or so later they can move up. Instead the reality is that they help depress wages and drive up living costs. But it isn’t their fault. Same as the productivity problems that Canada has - workers cannot work/produce more in the same amount of time. New tech, training or equipment is needed to help them accomplish more in the same time. But corps want to blame workers as lazy and not admit it’s that the corps fault because they don’t want to put any of their profit into increasing output.

Maybe our slipping standard of living is because we’re too reliant on the US as a trade partner and they’ve decided to shit all over us. Probably doesn’t help that we’re far too happy to follow America’s lead in placating billionaires and corporations with massive tax breaks while they raise prices, lower wages and push out local businesses.
