Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) says he “should have quit” his 2022 U.S. Senate race after suffering a stroke four days before the primary.

Pretty sure his opponent would have been worse, but mow is a good time to quit to be replaced by some other Dem.

I don’t think this jives with reports of what he was like as a mayor. I think Oz was just so incredibly bad that people didn’t care.

Fetterman should decide where he actually sits politically and express that in a come-to-Jesus manifesto.

That would settle a lot of trouble that has come from his time in office. People just want a representative government to act in good faith.

He details that his depression reached the point where his wife would not let him come home and that he lived in his parents’ basement in York.

    Wow what a great wife…

Could be a shitty wife. Could be a husband who burned up any compassion she had years before.

I don’t know enough about her to judge her motivation.

I’m withholding judgement unless and until further details come out. Having mental illness doesn’t give you a get out of jail free card for behaving however you please.

Depression can have some very difficult symptoms that are particularly hard on the support system of those who suffer from it. It’s a disease that requires a lot of effort to manage, and many people simply refuse treatment. I’m not necessarily blaming them, as episodes can sneak up on you and start severely impacting your life before you realize how bad it’s gotten. It’s still on us to take steps to right the ship once we’re aware of our situation, however.

The other option is to choose to do nothing, stay miserable , and suffer. It’s, unfortunately, a choice I’ve seen many people make. When that happens, we can’t expect those in our lives to support that decision and get dragged down with us. Perhaps Fetterman’s wife had to make a hard choice for her own health and safety. Perhaps not, but I’ve seen it happen enough that I think it’s quite possible.

Honestly, given his personality changes, I would not be surprised to hear that he’s become verbally or possibly even physically abusive at home.
