I am not sure about that, and they do have a point about modern “democracy” spread by the barrel of a gun. The US is quite found of overthrowing supposedly anti-democratic governments and installing dictators (see Iran and most of South America). This was obviously is not democracy, but the Neo liberals/cons will claim that is what they are doing.
I was just pointing out that ancient democracies did exist before the perversion that we see before us today. Perhaps I am just idealizing societies like ancient Greece though.
Their comment on the middle east is definitely sarcastic. There are no functioning democracies in the middle east that resulted from a US bombing campaign, except maybe Iraq, though I don’t think they’ll keep it to maturity.
You guys seem to blissfully ignore the fact that democracies are built one bombing at a time.
You seem to ignore how democracies actually work.
Let me guess, you think democracy is “vote for my preference or else” right?
In a real democracy, voters have a choice, not a hostage situation. The democrats are a part of this problem with the republicans.

I just explained it to you. Just look at the Middle East for example after example of successful democracies built by bombs, not votes.
Democracy existed before bombs.
They are being sarcastic.

That makes sense. Thanks.
