“NEW YORK WILL BE DESTROYED JUST LIKE PORTLAND!!!”

Logs into all the public webcams in Portland and sees that everything is fine and, oh my, what a beautiful city.

Buys a plane ticket to Portland just in case the webcams were fake news. Oh yes, oh my, what a beautiful city.

You should see the racists from my shit hole county. In northeast Pennsylvania. Legit going out of their minds. And saying shit like their 20k a year income could ever afford them a life in NYC. Like sit down Tony. No one cares what you and your 41bmi has to say. Maybe take care of your health before you open your mouth.

Millennials are the last generation to not be raised by an algorithm, and also seemingly the only generation that doesn’t get more conservative as they age, so I guess it’s up to us to save the planet.

      • Tbf, Gen Z just has a more “doomer” mindset, they don’t care anymore, they’d happily vote for a far-right, or even a socialist or a communist. I mean 60% of Americans have a positive view of Socialism. Its not really Gen Z being right wing, they are tired of the current system and is deparate for change, ANY change. So… lets hope they don’t choose change into the wrong direction.

I hope what we take most from this is that 2026, 2028 is NOT “too early” or “too high stakes” for an ACTUAL progressive campaign. The DNC has used that argument 3x with Trump and lost said elections twice (only winning 2020 because Trump bombed w/ Covid-19). I’m certain we’ll hear it again in the next two national elections.

Having a competent populist leftist politician is not a detraction. Quite the opposite. NO to Gruesome Newsom

Shit, we’d be lucky if they went with someone as marginally craptastic as Newsom. We can’t put any candidate in if they have any chance of getting any of our agenda in; they have to be 100% right-friendly or they won’t even try.

Just to be very clear, the DNC leadership is antagonistic to our (I assumed) shared goals.

The Democrats are obviously what needs to be supported in a 2 party system, so regardless of the DNC antics, the sacrifice for not choosing them will be more severe, and they know that.

I’m saying this all to say, absolutely support a progressive candidate if you can in the primaries, but when it comes election time, fall in line.

Also, there is a big problem where Mamdani is supremely clever and fast on his feet, having practiced every comeback a million times in the shower, ready to let them rip on command.

At the federal there is no one with that level of natural charisma or wit.

That’s something important to point out.

Sure, and compromise is inherent to democracy. So go vote for who you want in the primaries, and vote against who you don’t want in the general.

I meant to imply the USA does not have one.

Last time this primary vs general was paid attention to (internationally at least), it was because Bernie was about to out-primary Hillary and then the Democrats figuratively put their thumb on the scale and gave it to Hillary.

I absolutely understand even a dead rat would be better president than the Pedophile in Chief you have now. But the people of the USA barely have a very indirect path to elect their representatives… this is a democracy like Cheetos are “food”

Okay. I meant to imply that any democracy (practically by definition) is based on compromise, which is why I said that straight up instead of snarkily (and unhelpfully) bashing the USA.

As for the Hillary-Bernie thing… At then end of the primary, Hillary had like 3 million more votes than Bernie did. Notably, Bernie conceeded to Hillary and even campaigned for her, because he knew that she was much better than trump, and democracy is inherently a compromise.

Absolutely, but I will not keep falling in line for candidates that would rather lose than listen to me and publicly and emphatically support the very reasonable policies I want.

No, the Democratic Party is selectively missing the meaning of “compromise” only when it comes to shutting down progressives, they are happy as hell to hand power to conservatives.

          No.

A candidate campaigns for MY vote.

This stupid shit will lose you the ability to vote, and fuck over millions of people not deserving the blunt end of said stupidity.

It’s been seen time and time again that democrats losing shifts them right.

          Thats what happens.

The DNC knows that all they have to do is play “At least we’re not trump” and they’re happy enough.

You acting like a petulant child, as if somehow you’re really getting back the rich out of touch people is pants on head stupid. It’s you that loses the most. Actually no, its the marginalized people who lose the most, yet you sit there, pout, and fuck yourself and your fellow country while having a childish tantrum.

The Democratic establishment can prove they aren’t an obstacle to progress

They won’t, and you already know this, so you can either be mature and pragmatic by realizing this and voting as best aligns with your interests while trying to change the party over time as this is a 2 party winner takes all/first past the post style system, or you can act like a child, and self harm;throwing a tantrum whilst walking a tight rope.

me blindly voting for them is no longer a grace I automatically extend to a party hellbent on sabotaging progressives even if it means losing to literal fascists.

I refuse to believe real people and not fascists agitators can have opinions this brain dead.

This is exactly why people with your perspective are destroying this country and keep losing elections to fascists

Its crazy you say shit like this when we both support progressiveness. “You are realistic and therefor bad”.

y’all refuse to believe reality and instead need to force a moral judgment on voters not giving your shit candidates votes automatically because “other side bad”.

They literally aren’t my preferred candidates. That was inherent to the statment that they were not preferred but you still should because not doing so is petulant tantrum throwing that hurts many, including yourself.

You badly want reality to just work the way you want it to work instead of the way it does, and would rather be delusional than face the facts.

You literally can’t logically justify your emotional and self harming behaviour and never stop to self reflect on why that is.

That is their choice, not mine.

100% your choice. Fortunately you are an (insane and child like) minority, but holy fuck do you not help.

You do know that when you start insulting your opponent you’ve both lost the argument and shown your ass, right?

No, I don’t know that, because its something people without actual points in their favour bust out when they feel the other person has been too blunt.

In this case, the other person wishes to harm a significant amount of people. I owe them no apologies, and the only people showing their asses are the people treating significant, real life politics like a game and as if they were children flipping all the pieces off because they didn’t win.

Hopefully one day you’ll realize that you are the problem, that it is you carrying water for the right-wing party that together with the far-right-wing party have turned the good ole USA into a right-loving hellhole, slowly but surely over the last 50 years or so.

The thing about this child like understanding of this easy to understand system where only 2 parties will ever have a chance due to the math of it being a first past the post/winner takes all system, is that the very obvious only way to change said system without tremendous blood shed, is by slowly transitioning the party closest to your goals over time. Because this can’t be completed faster than a short on tiktok or youtube, you get enraged and think the whole system can never be fixed. Do you have a solution? Of course you don’t though. You’d instead have it get more broken, harming you and your causes more.

and lesser-evil voting fail to do anything.

This by itself is tremendously ignorant to the massive differences in policy between the 2 parties. All of this comment is filled with impotent irate ignorance.

Maybe the first part, but any people who protest voted over the Palestinians have the blood of the thousands more that have been killed on their hands as a direct result.

You cannot simply ignore the world just because its not the way you want it to be.

The movement that ultimately still voted for republicans when the time came for the most part as it was incredibly small because anyone who understand math understands that in a winner takes all/first past the post system you can’t have more than 2 main parties?

they need us and they are still refusing to behave like they do.

No. You have it backwards. They’re fine with losing. You aren’t. You and people you must be pretending to care about get fucked when they lose. They know that, and so you aren’t making them stop and think, you’re just fucking yourself and others harder.

But the way it’s set up if you abstain or vote third party that’s effectively a vote for a republican, and you are very nearly as responsible as them. You want a more progressive dnc? Register and fucking primary incumbent establishment dems with progressives. Drag the party left or own the fucking responsibility of being a part of the problem.

Where in the hell have you been for the last thirty years? The Democrats are a centrist party. If anything they’re a center right party because of people spouting bullshit like you instead of pulling the party left. If every whiny liberal and leftist actually fucking voted in primaries for progressives we’d have a populist progressive Democrat party. But you’d rather bitch on the internet about your bullshit principles that got trump elected.

LMAO. TBH I don’t blame them [people in Kentucky confused the polls were closed] because 1 - civics education = no; 2 - the way the NYC election was covered, you’d think it was a national race.

Unfortunately, it’s not just old or white people. Just look at the young GOP Nazi club or all the latinos that voted for Trump

I don’t know how true this is.

I read recently that when Trump’s speeches have been translated for non-English speakers, they are wildly different than what he is actually saying.

And when bilinguals translate for them directly, they aren’t believed because the literal translation is pants on the head crazy.

This was on a YouTube channel, so it was just some dude and not like an official news source, but back in 2020 I found a Trump speech with German subtitles. Specifically, it was the time Trump said to stop testing for COVID so that there wouldn’t be any cases.

The exact quote is: “If we stopped testing right now, we’d have very few cases, if any.”

But the subtitles meant something like “We’ve done the tests and have very few cases.”

So, it completely changed the statement from something utterly stupid and ridiculous to reporting that the US just didn’t have many COVID cases, which was obviously false.

Watch the 20 v 1 where Mehdi from Zeteo takes on a bunch of MAGA folk. They’re all 20-30 years old and it’s fucking crazy how many of them are blatantly racist and/or fascist. I’ll have to come back with the video link for you guys.

Jubilee - Surrounded is a completely twisted version of reality where they have been called out for deliberately finding and paying people to take the most extreme positions to represent the worst of humanity.

I’m not saying that there aren’t open fascists out there, many of them are now running our country in fact, but we all HAVE to start shutting the door on this kind of pandering rage-porn that makes us all hate each other for clicks. It’s making it all worse. Jubilee is not how people talk, it’s not how we reach each other and make change.

Isn’t that usually inverted though? Where the 1 is generally the one with extreme views and the 20 are deliberately picked to be inarticulate and oafish, thus promoting the extreme view? Admittedly it’s likely impossible to find a MAGAt that isn’t inarticulate and oafish.

From what I gather, they will try to do whatever they can to just ramp up the drama and conflict, whether it’s bringing in some outrageous character who participates in bad faith like Jordan Peterson, or if it means slipping a benjie to someone to play up being a crazy freak.

Andrew Callaghan said that when he went on “against” 20 conspiracy theorists, the production crew kept telling him that he needed to push back harder, but he didn’t play by their rules and ended up having one of the better episodes, where he gave people a chance to be heard and listened and asked questions and it was very civil and friendly. Unfortunately, that’s not what gets the most views though, so that kind of thing is discouraged.

I’m not remotely entertained by shot like this and find it weird people are. It’s a weird sort of cope exactly like the meme is portraying. People are hurting everywhere because of the regime and you’re here laughing it up like we dun won it.

I hope Mamdani does well because he’s going to be under a magnifying glass and behund a wall of anti person propaganda.

Hell have to exceed what any mayor should have to be able to do and even then the media will call him mid.

    This is not a cakewalk.

It’s quite fascinating that, on the one hand they think everything he tries will fail and he won’t achieve any of the things he promised, and at the same time they also think his policies will destroy New York City and all the business will leave.

Well, in a general sense (meaning, to be extra clear, I am not referring to Zamdani specifically), “these ideas won’t accomplish what he intends” and “these ideas will mess everything up” are not mutually exclusive at all. They’re essentially the same sentiment, if you think about it.

I think the confusion is in the incorrect assumption that only the successful execution of a policy/idea/etc. can do the latter, but the same level of damage could easily happen in the course of an ultimately-failed attempt, as well.

That’s enough pedantry from me for now, though, lol.

Is it “hard to believe” when the Americans voted twice to elect a full on rapist for President?.. with the added qualifications of convicted felon, fraudster and 99.99% likely a pedophile?

I think it’s time to accept Americans could not care less about sexual assault, women or kids rights.

Yes, that is a generalization with a nasty connotation but that is what Americans have shown to be

The issue, IMO, is the “fuck you, got mine” attitude from so many Americans.

Sure, someone who identifies as a “Liberal” may not want trans people be victimized but if they themselves are not trans (or maybe a close loved one), it’s really someone else’s problem not really worth doing anything about… maybe a post online

Fascism has taken over in the USA because of decades of dumbing down the public and rage farming… but the actual cause at the moment is that the raging idiots are willing to take action while the rest, unless personally affected, “can’t be bothered”

And then they blame it on “left wing political violence” and then the shooter’s family will be like “look at all these pictures of him wearing maga hats” and then the media will be like “but he had a high school class with someone who’s cousin was bisexual so he’s obviously a left wing lunatic”.
