  • The most scientifically rigorous and trustable carbon credit market possible is a system where people are bribed to bicycle to work instead of driving their car.

Would it still be a market full of people bullshitting and taking the bribe while still driving to work? Probably. Would people end up enjoying the benefits of bicycling so much they don’t even need to be bribed? Probably but is that actually technically even a fail state of a carbon credit system? Even considered in the worst light a Carbon Credit Bicycle Bribing System would still be an order of magnitude less full of bullshit and fraud than in the currently existing carbon credit markets so I think it would it be a net benefit to the earth to abandon current fantasies and refocus entirely on bribing people to bicycle to work.

  • You can put a clause in the license saying the software cannot be used for the dissemination of hate speech. The open source community has discussed this and decided it goes against the principles of free software and open source.

Says who? How can you authoritatively say the open source community has decided something collectively on this subject? That categorically doesn’t make sense on multiple different dimensions.

  • Yup, boomers took the easy way out and drowned themselves in work rather than organize to change the system.

I know this is a hot take but boomers who don’t even know how to live without working after they have been on this planet for decades are pathetic, second in blame only to the cruel system that diminished them to shadows of their past selves.

Speaking to boomers here - shut up, turn your TV set to fox news off and take up birding or something else actually real, your work identity is a flimsy illusion of self, you need to actively explore who you are not contract it out to your job you old hateful, childish vampires of humanities’ future.

…and yes before the inveitable “not all Boomers!”, I know.
