Yep, culturally juneteenth may not be super relevant to me. I still support it and don’t dislike it. Disliking it just seems weird. What’s to dislike? Right? Likewise MLK.

Columbus though all my fellow first nations say fuck Columbus. And support everyone else in saying it.

The results of the survey are sad but I must say the phrasing is weird. “Least-favorite” doesn’t necessarily mean “dislike”. I’d have probably said “Columbus Day” or “MLK” is my least favorite since I don’t get the day off and it’s not something I personally celebrate. I do not however dislike MLK day… I’ve always been surprised and a bit saddened that it wasn’t a holiday at my company. It seemed disrespectful to someone and something worthy of a holiday. They did get a little better and make Juneteenth a holiday at least, which surprised me.

Not sure how the survey was done so don’t know if participants were forced to rank them all from most to least favorite or not. If so being least favorite doesn’t mean dislike or necessarily have a negative connotation. However if the survey actually used the term “dislike” I wouldn’t necessarily be surprised by the same results, sadly.

It’s actually 14% and is the biggest negative percentage for any holiday, with only Super Bowl Sunday being close in terms of dislike at 13%.

This country is so fucking racist.

Superbowl Sunday has a similar negative number but I bet it’s a very different demographic. Big rise in domestic violence on Superbowl Sunday, but Juneteenth doesn’t harm anyone. Even if you’re not into it, you could easily ignore it, so the only reason to bitch about it is pure racism. Unless they’re butthurt about being reminded “your side lost.”

Might be a lot of people who won’t admit that they hate their family. Possibility not even to themselves.

Alternatively, Lemmy skews the results towards us Millennials who don’t like their parents. I have one person in my circle of friends with a normal, healthy relationship with their parents.

As a first responder, the 4th of July is the worst, NYE is 2nd, Halloween isn’t that bad. The teenager “devil’s night” shenanigans have never really been a thing in my area, but 9mm ‘fireworks’ are real, and they come down and hit people.

I bet Election Day would be a lot more popular if it really were a holiday, with most people off and extra pay for those who have to work.
