This was my take also. I don’t know if he’s right or not, but I also don’t care; nuclear weapons should never be used, period, end of sentence. To contemplate otherwise is madness.

I think he’s referring more to what’s happening in Gaza now. Not exactly nuclear weapons but removing the rules of engagement for soldiers. He’s right too. It is much easier to slaughter an entire group of people when you’re not trying to pretend that you’re doing something less barbaric.

I’m not sure that’s as profound of a statement as he seems to think it is but speculation about his thought process is a pretty pointless exercise anyway.

Shit, we’ve known this for decades. The CIA trained people in South and Central America, Asia, and Africa to do this since the 50s.

Fucking DEI programs and their checks notes combined arms warfare and counterinsurgency strategies!

(Even using this verbiage straight faced without a ton of asterisks gives the US the benefit of the doubt lol)

When Trump and Hegseth yelled at their generals for being fat beardos Trump also, with seriousness he added, wanted the military to invest in old school battleships because they were more “aesthetically pleasing” and also cheaper to fire 🤷

Oh please do, please do. Nothing would make me laugh harder than that first battleship getting it’s ass handed by some drone or missile that’ll take it out easily

It’s weird how battleships just went obsolete with the invention of missiles with 10 times the range of cannons even though they are so aesthetically pleasing?

But to be fair… the US used a battleship as late as in the Gulf war. Albeit it was rebuilt to fire missiles lmao

I never felt like this was a great argument against Trump, as draft dodging is based and hypocrisy on it’s own isn’t a moral failing.

I guess this works better with military types, or if you want to highlight the social detachment of his class privilege. But I try not to make arguments that incidentally consent to national militancy.

Trump was like Charlie Kirk and George W. Bush. All three were fervent patriots who whole-heartedly believed that the US should prevail. They all had a great excuse as to why they didn’t go themselves.

And hypocrisy is a moral failing if it means you are willing to have people die.

It’s the hypocrisy. You can use draft dodging as an argument against any right-winger even if you support draft dodging, because they don’t.

He dodged the draft not for ethical reasons but because he is a coward and a narcissist who only cares about himself.

      That’s the difference here
