A day after Donald Trump announced that he was firing Lisa Cook, the first Black woman to serve on the board of governors of the Federal Reserve, the White House proudly released a photo. It showed Trump, his cabinet and other officials giving a thumbs-up. Of the 24 people in the Oval Office, only one was Black.

For those who have studied the US president’s long and troubling history of racism, the two events were more than mere coincidence. They were indicative of a man who has recently brought white nationalist perspectives from the margins back to the mainstream.

Racists think all “other” people are unqualified and incompetent, so they just fire them under those excuses. Voila, not a racist reason— except the stats don’t lie. (Unless you’re racist… then the stats prove your point. It’s funny that way.)

Btw, I’ve realized one of the core ways to define republicans is by how they “other” people, while democrats work to humanize people. I think this is pretty universal (in US politics terms). “Conservative” is just another dog whistle term for “keep our skin the way it is.”

Wait, you’re telling me that the guy who specifically ended Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs across the nation might be racist?!

The guy who picked The Nazi Stephen Miller as his chief of staff is racist? Be still my heart. /s

Does anyone who cares somehow not know already? Don’t get me wrong, I will tell everyone, but I don’t know how effective it’ll be, ya know?
