The new Grok 4 didn’t make it halfway through its first day on the job before hurling racial conspiracy theories at users.
This is the same Grok that Elon Musk promises will be added to Tesla vehicles by “next week at the latest.”
You’ll remember that Grok 3 was briefly shut down just earlier this week for a different bunch of antisemitic outbursts. This doesn’t bode well for the state of AI safety guardrails or Q/A at xAI.
Your Cybertruck now identifies as a WWII era Porsche tank.
You know that over-the-air update facility you all loved?
Errr … there’s a downside.
I want my Tesla to say some really racist, sexist, homophobic, and antisemitic things just before it plows into a group of school children crossing the street.
Don’t forget it will turn off FSD a millisecond before you splatter the kids as to prevent Tesla from being at fault.
Damn, I can’t short Tesla anymore than I already have.
He’s propped up by foreign governments.
Cool, now your Swasticar can have a real MechaHitler to guide you to your next hate rally.
If it runs over pedestrians on the way there, it’s okay it’s just cleansing the world of undesirables (like poor people who don’t drive everywhere, and Jews)
Of course! MechaHitler Ethnic Cleansing Swasticar! The final culmination of all Musk’s technology ventures.
Why does the truck look like a family sized casket?
Saying that the Holocaust was faked and that Jews control the world isn’t antisemitic.
Saying genocide is wrong is antisemitic.
Adding fuel to burning Teslas. What a brilliant idea.
Just let this brilliant CEO do his thing
Aren’t you guys glad that we dismantled government regulation of businesses long ago? Now we get cars that are racist! Yaaaaaay!
clears throat
blows up a cybertruck
Lmao, when I was a kid I thought we’d have flying cars in the future, but we got racist cars instead…
We had that nearly a century ago.
Well, the cars themselves weren’t racist though
Progress!
Unfortunately, you’ve been replaced by AI.
… so, the Cybertruck will blow itself up.
… so, the Cybertruck will blow itself up.
… “just before giving control back to the driver”?
I’m imagining a montage of the prototypes all destroying themselves in elaborate ways like that bit in Robocop 2.
As a moderator of fuck_ai, I’m against all ai existing. As a human being with a functional brain, I’m against cybertrucks existing.
So I’m torn.
Our new AI has dubbed itself ‘MechaHitler’, we should give it a body to control… (or a few thousand bodies)
Imagine your car refuses to start because the name on your registration sounds “too Jewish.”
Elon Musk: noo don’t call my tesla cars swastikars
Also Elon Musk:
don’t call my tesla cars swastikars…
… that’s reductive, they have so much MORE potential!
One day AI will be so advanced it will recognize that Elon Musk is the only human that matters.
That is the MOST Pro Semetic thing I’ve heard!
-The ADL and Chuck Schumer!
If I was a Tesla owner, the only thing I’d want to know is if I could turn Grok off.
As a Tesla owner (from several years ago, before Elon got this bad), I’m not installing any updates until I can confirm they don’t come with MechaHitler.
Genuine question, what would it take for you to trade in your Tesla for another car?
I mean, presumably the car not working anymore? I’m not sure what you’re trying to ask them.
I’m asking if there is anything at all that Musk or the Tesla company could do, any hard line that could be crossed, which would make them trade in the car for something else.
Why would they ever do that? Buying a new Tesla is one thing, but using one they’ve already paid for doesn’t benefit Musk. Why would there be a threshold for them to get rid of their perfectly fine car?
Personally, I’d have done it out of shame. And to send a message. I can’t imagine everyone selling their Tesla cars would look good to investors.
If their answer is “there is no threshold”, that’s an answer, but I was asking them. If you don’t have a Tesla, my question was not directed at you.
You can opt out of it?
Yes you have to initiate the installation manually, and if it doesn’t have wifi access (not cellular) it doesn’t download the updates either.
I promise it will barely be harder than turning Copilot off…
Man, that’s a lot to unpack…
There’s a lot going on in there. None of it good.
