An hour later, Newsom took to X to reply to the Alabama politician.
“Alabama has 3X the homicide rate of California,” Newsom wrote. “Its murder rate is ranked third in the entire country. Stick to football, bro.”
You know, like two months ago everyone was crying that Democrats don’t do enough fighting back against Republicans and your comment has me thinking “well this is why they didn’t.”
Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.
People always say don’t sink to their level but the problem is you need to communicate with people at their level in a way they understand.
Making headlines by having the equivalent of a twitter fight does nothing to prevent harm. You know what would? Newsom ordering the national guard to return to base and reminding them that they will be prosecuted under state law for following unlawful orders.
Why not both? I imagine he’d considered that already and probably found that it wouldn’t pan out but we don’t exactly know that.
