  • Its nice that you believe that you vote to protect OTHER people’s rights, but when you are up against an issue that affects you directly, you definitely dont. If you were gay and the government wanted to bring in a bill to ban gay marriage you wouldn’t vote to protect the rights of the people who have a religious objection to gay marriage, you would vote against it.

ALL morals are relative. With the argument you are giving you are LITERALLY telling me that YOUR morals are superior to mine. Guess what? They’re just different and no better than mine.

We have a democratic system. Everyone votes the way they choose, majority wins. Welcome to the real world.

  • I wouldn’t describe as “selling your body” but it is using your body for a service. It’s not being damaged or losing value though.

Thats where I completely disagree. There is a big emotional and psychological toll to be used by another person for money. Yeah, in 20 years your knees might be in better shape than a factory worker, but your emotions, your self esteem, your mental health will not be. The knees can be fixed with surgery. How do you fix crippled mental health? There are people who spend their lives in therapy because mommy yelled at them a lot when they were young. You think someone who has been used over and over by other people for their own pleasure is going to be in better shape than that emotionally damaged person? Absolutely not. NO ONE comes out of sex work undamaged - its literally the price of participation.

  • I agree, we were working with the info at the time. But thats what was so frustrating about the continuation of the mandates when it was clear that we were past the peak of infections and the gov STILL wanted to impose NEW restrictions. I think Canadians were pretty patient for two long years but there was no reason to keep pushing us past the point of reason.

And even if Trudeau’s rationale was that he wanted to push people to get vaccinated, the name calling and the derision for those who didnt want to was completely uncalled for. The FIRST job of a PM is to keep Canadians united and feeling supported not treated like they were bad guys. That was a jerk move on his part.

But yes, lesson learned. Unfortunately the ‘lesson’ here in Alberta seems to be 'you cant make us take a vaccine we dont want which is why we have a crazy high measles outbreak. Yikes. Thats embarrassing.

  • Selling your health, youth, time, etc. is fine in your opinion, but selling sex isn’t for some reason?

You honestly think that selling your time to make money is the same as selling your BODY to make money? Please tell me your not serious about that. There are barter systems where people exchange their labor for goods without any money involved, but I think you’d be hard pressed to find a system where people sell their body for goods on regular basis.

So exactly how does one provide for one’s need for food clothing and shelter if they DONT want to sell their time? Live in the woods and forage for berries?

  • My partner’s 87 year old mother could be killed by Covid. We have all maintained flu/Covid shots to protect her.

You DO know that getting the shot didnt prevent anyone from carrying and transmitting covid, right? And you can still get covid even after vaccination?

The value of FORCING everyone to get the shot and isolating themselves really becomes questionable as we look at the long term effects: Mental health issues are way up. School age KIds lost two years of schooling and a lot of socialization skills. Drug use skyrocketed and we have a drug epidemic. Many seniors were severely emotionally impacted by not being able to see their families. Massive job losses particularly in the hospitality industry. Business closures. The division caused by the PM painting refusers as ‘bad Canadians’. Plus the ridiculous financial cost of the ArriveCan scam, paying for hotel rooms to isolate travellers, millions of vaccines that went unused, respirators that were bought at a premium and sold as scrap, to say nothing of the billions of dollars that were handed out with almost zero oversight MUCH of it completely wasted. Like the millions given to a QC company to build a pharmaceutical plant that never happened. And the rapid rise of inflation caused by injecting billions of dollars into the economy.

The Trudeau approach to forcing compliance cost this country A LOT and we’re going to be dealing with the fallout for many years to come. There was usefulness in the beginning but after two years Trudeau was actually saying that he saw further use for the digital app for allowing entrance into buildings and other access. NO THANKS, we dont need gov control over free movement and medical compliance.

  • He also said he’d end the Ukraine war in his first week as president. He didnt do that. He also said he’d lower the cost of goods in the US. Didnt do that. He also said he’d get 90 trade deals in 90 days. Didnt do that. He also said he’d release the Epstein files. Didnt do that. Said he’d bring manufacturing back to America. Didnt do that. Said he’d stop America’s wars. Didnt do that…

He’s a rambling buffoon who spouts any shit he can think of as long as it gets him on the front page every day to stroke his pathetic ego.

So maybe you believed that he was going to annex Canada but anyone who has watched this moron for more than a month knows that he’ll say anything to get attention, and almost all of it is lies and made up bullshit. The only ‘strategy’ that Carney needs to implement is to wait for him to self destruct and then deal with the hopefully more rational leader that succeeds him.

  • for stupid decisions that endanger others.

Sure. But there are plenty of reasons people had for refusing the vaccine that arent stupid at all. Including my cousin who is a pediatric ICU nurse and VERY well acquainted with vaccines and how they work. She was required to take the SARS vaccine and it physically damaged her immediately, and she now has heart complications that started right after she took her shot. So when the health board said she needed to take the Covid shot she pleaded her case as her heart couldnt take more damage if it were to have the same effect. They refused to grant her an exception so she retired from nursing instead. Not sure what part of that is ‘stupid’ but there wasnt exactly a lot of understanding - Trudeau made sure the message was that anyone who didnt take the shot was ‘unCanadian’ and most likely misogynists and racists and dont believe in science. Which was actually a pretty asshole thing to say. And why he’s not only no longer PM but he’s completely disappeared off the radar because the Liberal party doesnt want to remind Canadians of his existence.

  • We all heard Donny Bonespurs tell the world he wanted to annex Canada as the 51st state. We watched as he tried to intimidate us with tariffs. Do you think we don’t get American news up here?

Of course. But it was Carney who played it up as an ‘existential threat’ to Canada. Its not. Donnie is a full of shit narcissist blowhard and he fails at everything he touches. But the Liberal strategy was to give Donnie’s pathetic weazing as much oxygen as possible, keep people scared, make sure that our economic life depended on someone handling the ‘threat’ and of course, who better than an international banker. Up til Carney put the spotlight on Donnie Dumpster, most Canadians were focussing on stuff that actually affects their lives like grocery prices, inflation, high housing costs, the increase in crime, the increase in drug use and the flood of TFWs. And THOSE are the things that are still affecting our lives, not the tariffs. But we took the bait and voted for the ‘tariff’ guy and ignored the guy who’s been talking about the more important issues the whole time.

  • I think its budgetary issues that are going to be his Achilles heel. Trudeau went crazy with cash and the last budget was what, 40 billion higher than estimated? The one that he planned to throw Freeland under the bus with? But Carney shows no sign of letting up. He doesnt even want to present a budget, most likely because he doesnt want to be held to account for it.

So everything’s going to look rosy as he taxes and spends but without fail, the day of reckoning is coming and thats going to fall on young people who aren’t going to be thrilled with the legacy of debt they’ll be carrying.

  • What other definition of ‘forced’ is there, other than being coerced to do something against your will? Thats the definition of forced.

This was just reported this morning by a national press gallery media: “Incomplete figures show nearly 1,600 Canadian soldiers, sailors and air crew resigned, were discharged or faced discipline for defying Covid orders” Sounds pretty forced to me.

And recall what touched off the whole convoy event? The government insisted that cross border truckers, the same guys who had been praised for keeping our international trade going and supplying our stores for the previous two years were going to be FORCED to get covid vaccines. These are guys who spend all their time in a truck cab and barely interact with anyone except the guy running the forklift to load them in the US but suddenly, after two years, Trudeau decided that to “participate in society” as you put it, they needed to get vaxxed. It didnt make any sense at that point, still doesnt. Thus the spark that ignited a huge protest. We were tired of being forced to do things that no longer made sense even if they did in the beginning.

  • One thing Poilievre doesnt do is change his tune because it might be unpopular. He has stated and I totally believe its the case, that one of the main reasons he lost his own riding was that he was honest about the need to cut many gov jobs. Thats a message that doesnt sit well when you live in Ottawa. So Carney gets in and a few weeks later his message is, we’re going to need to cut a lot of government jobs. Lovely. And here we are. Poilievre didnt play games, he just said it like it is. And voters punished him for being honest. Weird.

We are at the beginning of ANOTHER LIberal term. We’re still in the honeymoon period for Carney. Give him about a year and a half and we’ll see where public sentiment sits. Because he’s still a Liberal and despite a good start, he has a LOT of Liberal baggage surrounding him and methinks a leopard doesnt change its spots that quickly.

On the positive side, some of the worst of the worst got the royal punting - Trudeau gone, Freeland demoted, Blair gone, Charette gone, Mendecino gone. If Carney keeps up the house cleaning and ACTUALLY does some of the things he’s been promising its going to be an uphill fight for Poilievre. But thats good for Canada.

  • and the country didn’t buy it, at al

You make it sound like Poilievre is Jagmeet Singh. Poilievre did lose the election, but not by much. The popular vote was less than 2% difference. And he GAINED 25 seats, the LIberals only gained 9 so percentage wise the Conservatives did a fantastic job of increasing their reach and constituency, just not enough to win the election. The loser in the election was the NDP who got decimated, but to pretend that “the country” thinks Poilievre is a loser is patently false.

He’s going to bide his time and when voters see how far the Liberals will sink us into debt, how ridiculous their gun buyback program is, and the next inevitable Liberal scandal, he will emerge to campaign for the next election. Carney’s doing a good job so far, but he’s still working with the gaggle of bozos who sank Canada as far as its fallen in the last 15 years. There will be a time to make things right again.

  • There are more cases. You can google them. The Democracy Fund has been busy defending these people and getting their jobs back and getting their fines quashed. I didnt say that the vaccines weren’t legitimate. I was presenting the clear fact that people were indeed forced to comply in taking them. And some lost their jobs for not doing it. And some were given ridiculous fines for not doing it. Which contradicts the statement above that no one in Canada was forced to take the vaccine. We most definitely were.
