They said they do that “regardless” implying they either key cars regardless of whether they park illegally or not Or they key cars that park illegally regardless of whether they’re disabled or not. I’m not defending or attacking anything. It was a confusing use of regardless and I thought it was funny enough to point out.
No one is arguing that people shouldn’t get their cars keyed for parking like assholes, so that’s beside the point. I said it because it was funny reading exactly into what they said in the context of this conversation. You’re translating their intent correctly, but that’s not very funny to me. Anyways have a nice day.
There’s a bit of an art to the “deliberately misinterpret what someone is saying” joke. I’m not sure exactly what it is tbh, but they’ve been pretty hit or miss. Maybe this one flopped because it’s poking fun at righteous rage that isn’t often in the mood for being made fun of, so it assumes any pushback is serious, but that’s just a guess.
Personally, I like this idea better than the tow truck model. It makes their car less nice but doesn’t put them in a situation where their life might be fucked if they can’t afford to get their car out of impound and their income depends on having a car.
I miss my days of running a hardware store, mostly because of our forklift. Idiots had a penchant for blocking the entrance to our parking lot for some reason – I can’t fathom why – and when called out on it they’d give us lip right up until I mentioned we’d just pick up their car with the forklift and put it somewhere else.
I never actually had to do it. I did lift a pallet thief’s truck until he put my goddamn pallets back one time, though. That was pretty fun.
Laws should permit people with disabilities to legally scratch and dent the hell out of a vehicle parked like that.
We live in a society, and all must do our part to enforce the social contract.
It should be legal for anyone to key the shit out of cars that park like this
I already do, regardless
Regardless of whether they park legally? Or are you handicapped semi regularly?
We’re talking about parking on a disabled access ramp, not a parking spot so i’m not sure what you think you’re defending here

Regardless of the legality of it was my interpretation.
Not raally. ‘it should be legal’ was in the statement they replied to. Which means they do the action regardless of the legality

Ever seen what firefighters do to a car parked in front of a hydrant they need? Handicapped people should take note.

I want to get a forklift now.
“nice argument, unfortunately i’m forklift certified”
There are certain behaviors I feel like should mean the perpetrator forfeits the protection of law. Parking in bike lanes is also one.
If I was on a jury where they were prosecuting someone for smashing up a car parked in the bike lane or handicap spot, I’d probably find not guilty.
Well, if someone was illegally parked in a bike lane and their car was hit by a cyclist, what legal protection would they have? I’d say zero. 😄
