          We were just making the best of things before the millennium bug caused the collapse of civilization.

          I’m joking of course but I’d say the early 90s felt even more like the picture. There was a sense of hope and relief that the cold war was over, the Berlin wall had come down, hell we were even making progress at fixing the ozone layer. Everything was possible!

          I think the 00s nostalgia is nostalgia. I think the post-soviet union to pre 9/11 was genuinely a time of stability , freedom and peace for most places.

          If the country you resided in was not like that in that timeframe, I’m sorry.
