Temperatures are expected to plunge to around zero degrees this weekend. Minnesotans say they will be out in the street, using the weather to their advantage.
Federal agents flopping on ice and tripping over snowbanks. Snowballs arcing toward ranks of men armored in tactical gear. Protesters gleefully dumping water to make streets even more hazardous.
If there is a third character in the story of immigration agents versus protesters in Minnesota, it is the January weather.
This weekend, temperatures in Minneapolis are expected to plunge even lower, to around zero degrees, an Arctic blast that could hinder the Trump administration’s continuing immigration crackdown and the angry demonstrations over the death of Renee Good, 37.
. . .
But bundled-up residents who have been protesting for days said that a seriously cold stretch would play only to their advantage.
“I want it to get cold,” said Chris Foreman, a military veteran who has joined protesters outside the Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building, just outside Minneapolis, for six days in a row. “People know that a lot of these ICE guys are from the South. They’re coming into a different environment and they’re not used to it.”
I’ve been looking at the weather here and saying the same thing. We have been above freezing for weeks and just getting back to normal cold of 0. Would love to see these ICE agents be sent out in the -40s we get in mid Jan.
What I really want is to get the city to not plow around ICE locations. Plow in ICE
The winter has historically kept a lot of invasive species at bay.
I’m amazed that I haven’t seen any “Don’t attack Russia in Winter” type jokes about Minnesota
Protesters should rent water trucks and when the agents get fresh, hose them down with a fire hose. Water balloons would also work wonders. Watch how fast they run when soaking wet in zero degrees temperature. Imagine watching ICE running away from people with water balloons.
Flood the parking lots where they park their vehicles overnight. Wont be going anywhere the next morning.
Or freezer over the doors of the hotels they’re staying in, and cover the cars in ice.
nice idea
They wouldn’t run away; they’d shoot to kill. And then they’d start firing on anyone with a water bottle because that’s a potential weapon.
And now they will suffer the true power of this fully operational crazy ass State.
If we get a -40° wind-chill day, then we’re really cooking. Not even the bloodlust of the most antisocial agents can stay empowered.
I bet they wont even be able to start their vehicles, i doubt they bothered to properly winterize them, and i doubt they have engine block heaters.
I was going to say I don’t properly winterize my vehicle or have an engine block heater.
Though I have been here 30 years, I know the kind of fire I’m playing with, and I can guarantee you that I 'll a vault.
Ah, not much different then Ohio then. Most i do is chuck a snow brush in my back seat and make sure my washer fluid is rated for cold (the non cold stuff will in fact freeze!). I’ve never had winter tires to know if they’re a BS expense or not 😅
Bring out the Super Soakers!!!
