President Donald Trump has said the U.S. will revisit its stance on Greenland in the coming weeks.
Asked if he expected to take action on the territory, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday: “Let’s talk about Venezuela, Russia, Ukraine. We’ll worry about Greenland in about two months. Let’s talk about Greenland in 20 days.”
He added: “We need Greenland from a national security situation. It’s so strategic.”
I can’t wait to watch him actually do something against Greenland to try and take over it and watch as the rest of Europe pretty much does nothing.
Strongly worded emails are being considered.
Notice anything unusual?
- Nah.

Even worse, with mounting aggression from East and West, and our own right-wing parties handing our enemies the continent on a silver platter, Greenland’s fall is going to usher in a century of humiliation for Europe.This. Europe will just watch and do nothing, as always
europe aint got a choice really
Not militarily. The EU can’t project force the way the US can. And if they didn’t instantly issue crippling sanctions against Russia’s aggression, right in their fucking backyard, they won’t do shit to the US.
A fatal flaw they should have learned of from watching China’s buildup of their navy and asking themselves “why do they need that,” but they assumed the US Navy would always be protecting their interests and not threatening them.
It’s like people don’t learn from history or something.
Yeah Xi China (and putin) also uses this gunbloat diplomacy that trump’s using now, we should check how other asian countries handle it
(beg America to tell them to fuck off)

20 days is 2 business months for Trump.
Obviously he’s saying 160 hours is what he works in 2 months, so that’s 80 hours a month, or 20 hours a week on average. Shit, I didn’t know being the president is a part time job, with those benefits? sign me up!
Bro got attacked by his dementia mid-sentence.
You are under the mistaken impression that Trump is in charge. His dementia is far worse than just a few years ago, even two years ago. This time around his handlers have figured out how to manipulate him.
Taking Greenland isn’t Trump’s idea. If he wasn’t being fed ideas like this, he’d be plenty happy getting fatter, napping and continuing the grift from the Resolute desk.
The US is going to take Greenland. As global warming rolls on, mineral extraction becomes easier and more profitable, and Arctic sea lanes will open year-round. If you were playing Risk, taking Greenland would be a no-brainer.
Fucking Stephen Miller
It is not a clickbait title. It is an attempt at explaining to normal people what the crazy boomer with nukes is rambling about.

That’s exactly the problem of having to report what a crazy but ridiculously powerful person is saying. If you don’t take him seriously and just report that he’s just rambling incoherently then you’re going to be surprised when he actually uses his immense power. If you present his ramblings as a coherent declaration then you’re going to be discredited when he doesn’t follow through.
There is no easy answer here. I’m leaning towards the side that takes his sayings at face value because he’s too powerful not to.
By the way, it’s way less productive to direct your anger towards the journalists trying to make sense of what the madman is saying.
Also considering he does occasionally follow through on some of his ramblings and it’s quite apparent that the government apparatus will happily follow his orders (even if they shouldn’t), the prudent thing to do is report on them as though he’s serious about it.
Everyone with the capability to do so already understands that he simply regurgitates whatever shit someone manipulated him to say before the interview. That is when he’s coherent enough to make himself understood which frequently isn’t the case anymore. His dementia is already fairly advanced and it is going to accelerate even harder in the future. He’s sleeping standing up during official meetings, for fuck’s sake.
tl;dr: he’s not capable of making much sense anymore. The true power lurks behind him, we all know that.
deadline, definition number three from The American Heritage Dictionary: “A date on or before which something must be completed.”
So I guess twenty days away is the deadline, or date, for talking about Greenland again?
As annoying as headlines can be the tendency of people to intentionally misinterpret them is pretty annoying too.
Yes he said that about his health care plan 12 years ago. It was always a month away.
yep. but people are freaking out like he’s going to invade in two days because of their irrational fear response and their doomerism fantasizing.
To be fair, with Trump you never know… he’s just crazy…
we already have bases in Greenland. It’s already ‘conquered’.
As global warming advances, taking Greenland is a no-brainer for the US. All this talk is softening the blow. I’d put a crisp $100 against the US not invading in the next 6-months.
It’s people like these that stop humanity from ever evolving past meaningless wars and eternal petty garbage. Trump, Putin, Xi and others are the reason why humanity can’t have good things.
Trump has forever tarnished the USA as a beacon of freedom and democracy. I’m hopeful the american people will see this eventually, but history contradicts that hope.
This
We need to stop allowing psychopaths and narcissists from getting any power whatsoever
We have a list of requirements if you want to become a fireman. If you want to become a lawyer, it’s a protected job that not anyone can do, you must pass the bar and whatnot to be able to call yourself one
Want to become a politician and make the rules? Suddenly there are no rules nor requirements, any idiot is welcome. WTF?
If you were born with, say, a deformed hand, we don’t let you become a fireman because you need your arms
If you’re born without the ability to feel empathy for others, or literally can only care about yourself, or are incapable or stopping with lying, then apparently you’re perfect for the type of job where you make rules for others and have to decide what happens to others. WTF?
Stop psychopaths and narcissists from becoming politicians, have a law against it
Isnt xi, though a dictator, the smartest one among them, who is also trying to push technological advancements and at least trying to solve eco issues? Best of trio
I’m not sure if he’s smarter than Putin, but I guess if I had to hang out with one of them, it would be Xi.
I can not understand why you doubt it
Putin isn’t dumb? He underestimated how Europe and Ukraine would handle his invasion, but domestically he’s proven plenty adept at doing the job of kleptocrat.
Xi was also a nepobaby, for what it’s worth. Putin’s life trajectory involved more good luck at the very least, if not actual competence.
Did he? I’m not by any stretch a Putin supporter, yet I fail to see how he’s not 1) strengthening his support at home, and 2) winning the war of attrition in Ukraine
He’s pretty quickly running out of economy to fund the war. It’s very very expensive to pay people who don’t care about your war to die for it, and revenues have not gone up. Their industrial production is a joke and they’ve actually burned through the Soviet doomsday stockpiles. The original goal was to take Kiev immediately, watch as Europe does nothing a but write a strongly worded letter, and then move on to the Baltics. If there’s no deal keep an eye on the value of the ruble.
Meanwhile, Ukraine still hasn’t expanded conscription to under-25s, and still has access to bottomless Western supplies.
I’m also not sure how Putin’s domestic support is stronger than before. Fighting Ukraine is seen domestically in Russia a lot like fighting Canada would be in the US - nobody really wants to do that. Increasing both handouts and enforcement against dissidents has been a real priority for him, as a result.
Is that true? Im not arguing that the Russian economy is booming, but diversifying to export crude to China India and Turkey is helping the wartime economy trundle along in the war of attrition.
The Muscovite elites probably don’t care about the war as long as it’s not impacting them too much, these are not the people sent to the front lines.
Idk, I’ve heard for 4 years now that the Russian economy is about to collapse any second now, and the opposite seems to have happened. I fear this is a miscalculation from the Western allies
Putin believes he can become immortal by replacing his organs
Yeah, that was a conversation with Xi.
China’s a stronger country, no doubt. Mostly because of people who came before Xi.
In which he disappointedly replied max life expectancy is 150 years with current medical advancements
Nepobaby word really became popular recently, isnt it? Xi has better education, better in science, politics, shows better results economically ecologically. Better country in r and d. People in China live better than in Russia. Putin is just a thug who is lucky to be in right place right time.
It’s also plenty of people that support them. Some folks just like to watch the world burn.
What saddens me is that somehow the idea of uniting and flourishing together is not universally accepted as good. Some people always want more for themselves, and it’s often easy to manipulate them into identifying themselves and the nation, the nation and its leaders. To them, Trump or Putin or Xi getting another ambition played feels like personal victory. In fact, it’s rather everybody’s loss.
The problem this time is, there’s no “good guy” relatively speaking, to jump in and stop them this time. World War III has begun, and the fascists will win easily. Then they turn on each other.
I guess the good guy is whole of europe (not only eu)
Trump, Putin, Xi and others are the reason why humanity can’t have good things.
Also, the “good” people who believe that remaining polite and non-confrontational is the best way to appease bullies, because it has ALWAYS worked so well on the past. They are the ones who determine that sometimes maniacs become so psychopathic, that we are better off letting them do whatever they want, because ultimately it might be slightly less lethal to millions of people.
Or you could keep those people away from the leadership of your nation in the first place, but that wouldn’t be polite. Everybody deserves a turn at the steering wheel, even if they are suicidal.
What deadline? Surrender or die?
Fuck the United States of America
From the quote, either two months or 20 days. The jist just being Trump is too busy to start another war now.
More likely it demonstrates that he doesn’t understand time.
US: We need to violate your national security for our national security
to exploit your natural resources.Yeah, Trump clearly compensates for some insecurities
He issued them a threat.
“let’s talk about Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico, Canada. Also, where’s my fucking Nobel Peace Prize!? I’m the president of peace! I think we’re going to have to do something about Mr.Nobel as well.”
…
Request denied.
Hopefully he’ll be late for those talks.
Denmark and the US are both in NATO, and NATO already has Greenland.
This is like Donald threatening Melania to steal her make up.
Cut the power. Now.
I wonder if they will deport everyone who will illegally enter the US on Greenland
Let’s just all agree that Trump and Jeffrey Epstein didn’t know each other…
they all know that this guy can do whatever he wants
Fuck trump
He added: “We need Greenland from a national security situation. It’s so strategic.”
The US already has military bases on Greenland in accordance with diplomatic agreements. This isn’t about national security or defense strategy. If it were, there would be diplomatic ways to increase US military presence. This risks losing the diplomatic agreements which allow the US to maintain a military presence there. It won’t be very strategic if US forces get banished from the realm.
This isn’t about national defense. It’s about natural resources. Trump wants to exploit Greenland for its rare minerals the same way he wants to exploit Venezuela for its crude oil.
It’s so transparent.
Greenland is strategic, in addition to mineral extraction. The GOP base may deny global warming, but the powers behind the throne get it. As the Arctic thaws and opens year-round shipping lanes, Greenland becomes prime territory to control.
As to bases, that’s a big chunk of land for our single base to cover. We’ll want several in key locations.
Should not have been surprised over Venezuela, the US has been scheming on that oil for over two decades, but I’d be surprised if we don’t take Greenland, with no real pretense.
i think a civil war in NATO might be funsies
🤷
Even his most coherent quotes contradict themselves, and he talks shit all day long. And the phrasing “Greenland deadline” is a little too evocative for my taste, but clickbait is a must these days.
yes, it’s not like actually already invaded a country and kidnapped its leader… I mean, stop exaggerating please
It sounds like it’s a deadline for Greenland, which sounds ominous, but really he just said “we’ll talk about it”. Damn I hate how the media sanewash Trump all the time. He’s babbling! Don’t report on it as if he said something of consequence.
Apparently he thinks one month is ten days…
But yeah, calling that a deadline is kinda clickbaity.
Plus, it sound slike some decision will be made then, when all he said was “let’s talk about Greenland then”.
At best, it’s a deadline for him and his advisors, not for Greenland. Which is ludicrous anyhow.
From what he actually said, it sounds like talks about a potential decision will begin then. That’s not at all what a deadline is.
The way it was reported made it sound like a decision was already made, and actions would be taken by then. That’s not at all what he said though.
There’s already plenty of legitimate reasons to criticize him, so I can’t stand when journalists distort things to make them seem even worse. It gives too much credence to the people defending him by framing all criticism as media spin.
Things are already bad enough without reactionary sensationalism, so just focus on the facts without compromising journalistic integrity. Otherwise it’s just disinformation, which doesn’t help anyone. We’re supposed to be better than this.
focus on the facts
even contemplating invading Greenland is ludicrous
Exactly, and that’s what the journalism should focus on. It detracts from the message when they give it a misleading spin. It’s already bad enough without the distortion of facts. That’s the point I’m trying to make.
