Man, thats how much I got while working there (in the US, not Texas) like, 10 years ago. Is that even enough to survive these days?

Same with Pennsylvania. But I dont know of any jobs that pay that little, nor do I know of anybody that would work a job at that rate. However, i believe it creates psychological leverage benefitting employers holding wages low: “I know we pay $10.25 per hour, but that’s $3 above minimum wage! We pay really well.”
Dammit, Massachusetts is only $15/hr and no plans to increase. Given our cost of living, we really need to try harder
