Just found out someone I thought was somewhat intelligent recently became maga because they think schools are pushing kids to be trans. I no longer think they’re intelligent. I’ll never understand this dumb fucking shit. Half the world’s problems are caused by people being unable to think to themselves “well I don’t understand that. It’s kinda weird to me. Oh well”

Instead a bunch of assholes need to create misery in the world to somehow attempt to “resolve” their inability to do that. Rather than have something exist that they don’t understand, they need to eradicate it. Nevermind the fact that it’s both cruel and impossible to eradicate these ideas and people they don’t understand.

They’re living in their own information bubbles, and they’re deluding themselves to believe in these kind of bullshits. Used to be a conservative just when they decided they’re gonna rid all opposing ideology from the world (usually under the disguise of anti-communism), before that I was a kind of a proto-alt-right kid, and they literally believe that moderate liberals are secretly bloodthirsty satanist communists, who will kill all christians.

We should be able to trace these stories to their origins. My welsh mom was on the phone last year saying she saw in the news that schools in Scotland where I am are encouraging kids to be trans. Theyre asking them every single day “are you a girl or a boy today” when they take the register. I told her thats obviously nonsense, thats not happening. I even asked my son to be sure.

The next day, a “news article” popped up on my phone saying the exact shit about schools in Wales. Its so fucking tiring.

I broke up with my mom over her failure to respect queer rights. I was chased out of my town, had to run away at 17, because people were threatening me, my family, my friends - was under police protection and 24 hour surveillance for weeks. All because I came out in high school.

And now she’s like “I am a member of the log cabin republicans”

And I’m like “That’s cool, you’re not my mom anymore tho.”

      Good riddance.

From what I’ve heard, there are two arguments conservatives use here:

      • Normal people paying for trans surgeries (aka them being covered by free medcare). I’m sure you can imagine why it would upset some people.

      • And schools pushing kids to be trans is somewhat a thing. Kids, especially teenagers, are particularly malleable. Now I am not trans now, far from it, but in the mental state I was in high school, I fully believe they could have concinced me to come out as a woman. As long as it’s just that, fine, but where the argument becomes heated is when trans surgeries come into play. Many people believe they are being done too hastily, and I’m inclined to agree. Let the kid grow up a bit, if he wants to wear a dress then so be it, but give him a few years before even considering surgery, and then maybe have him talk to a doctor or therapist beforehand.

you could also say that schools are pushing kids to be cis today.

and i get your point about surgery being a big impact on somebody’s life (and i personally would never undergo a not medically necessary surgery myself), but most of the time, teenagers (if they’re taking any medical process at all) take hormones (which is swallowing pills) which by the way is also done by people with diabetes (insulin is literally a hormone) and so it’s kind of a “routine thing” and that’s why i wouldn’t call it surgery.

Most of the time, though, it’s not even that; it’s literally about clothing and stuff.

You’re literally just pushing soft conservative talking points trying to indicate there is an issue there while not providing any real evidence to back it. Gender affirming care is important, it saves lives, there are plenty of guard rails in place to make sure it’s not improperly administered to young trans individuals, and the regret rate is very low.

You trying to insinuate there is an issue there is literally bullshit.

My mother in law is constantly posting about how the Biden administration put litter boxes in every school bathroom and they haven’t been removed.

Of course, her own grandchildren telling her they’ve never seen one in any of the 6 schools they’ve been to is just woke bullshit the teachers are instructing them to lie to their parents about.

The mental gymnastics required to believe these things is astounding, and would almost be impressive if it weren’t harming people.

Wow that is absurd. Here’s a question for her… Why hasn’t God King Trump removed them?

That litterbox story was a test. Humanity failed it by having more than like 100 wackos believe it for even a second. I find it hard to believe any moron could believe it. But I’ve met them myself so I know it’s a thing.

Oh I’ve brought that up before and it’s just been dismissed with a “he’s trying but the schools aren’t cooperating”

Never mind the fact that the thugs they hire for law enforcement would have no qualms with kicking down a school door and putting guns in faces to do whatever they want (as long as there isn’t a scary white man with a gun inside that might shoot at them) and would love the opportunity to “own the libs” by removing these thousands and thousands of litter boxes.

Like I said, the mental gymnastics are astonishing. She believes a single being created the universe, so this probably isn’t that big a stretch for her.

The funny thing here to me is that despite being an atheist/agnostic I actually find the existence of God much more believable than the litter box story. At least there’s a conceivable cause and effect there. I really struggle to relate to people who think motivations aren’t key to behavior. Sure if there was something to gain from putting litter boxes in bathrooms, I could see some people believing it. But there’s literally no explanation for it. It’s just a vague “they’re crazy” handwave happening there.

Thing is, the litterbox story has a grain of truth buried in there. I believe some schools did put litterboxes in classrooms… In case of extended sheltering in place during a school shooting.

Not OC, but as far as I read it’s been reported for one school district in Colorado.

Among other school supplies, teachers in one Colorado public school district were recently given buckets and kitty litter so students are able to use the bathroom in the event of a lockdown, the district confirmed to TIME.

Some teachers were given the “go buckets” at a back-to-school training within the Jefferson County Public School District. This is the same district where the Columbine High School mass shooting left 12 student and one teacher dead in 1999.

“Our emergency procedures include a Lockdown protocol if there is a threat inside the building. Lockdowns require each classroom to be cleared by school security or law enforcement after the threat has been mitigated and can be a long process. The go buckets include items to support students and staff if needed – including bodily functions,” Diana Wilson, a spokesperson for the Jefferson County School District tells TIME.

In April, Jefferson County schools were on lockout all day after a woman reportedly had an obsession with the Columbine shooting and posed a “credible threat” to the Denver area. She was later found dead in an apparent suicide.

For the coming school year, some teachers within the district were also given first aid items, as well as a Sharpie marker so they can write down the time they put a tourniquet on a bleeding student.

John McDonald, the head of security for Jefferson County Public Schools, said that the buckets are not required but they are strongly encouraged, according to Chalkbeat.

“We want to give our kids dignity in the middle of this type of crisis,” McDonald said. “We really start with a belief that training creates a fundamental climate and culture of school safety, and you can be emergency prepared without being emergency scared.”

According to McDonald, the idea came about a few years ago when one of the schools in the district, Alameda International Junior/Senior High School, was locked down for hours after it was reported that there was a gun in the school. Students had to use trash cans and closets for bathroom purposes.

He also says this isn’t the first year that the teachers have been provided with buckets, and that around half of the schools in the district currently have them.

They aren’t entirely wrong. Liberal schools are enoursging trans kids to come out by teaching them about gender identity and tolerance at a young age, and that’s a good thing.

What maga perceives is that cis kids are being turned into trans kids because they cannot wrap their head around how trans people are born trans, not ‘pushed’ into it. Trans people have been forced to mask as cis passing for so long, that maga will point to the past and talk about how trans people don’t exist, they’re an unnatural product of liberal propaganda.

The other perspective is that kids are kids, and gender identity is spectrum. Not every kid’s gender identity is set in stone, and liberal policies that accept this fluidity is perceived as an agenda that deliberately turns cis kids into trans kids.

Yes, mags are stupid. But not necessarily because they are unintelligent, but because they fundamentally do not understand what being trans is, and are also likely bitter about their own heteronormative expectations that they have to live up to.

It’s a similar phenomenon to how women coming out as autistic face backlash even among liberals, because it does not conform to people’s idea of what an autistic person is like, because decades of research on autism have only focused on boys and men. The same way that a lot of people fundamentally don’t understand autism is an internal experience, maga doesnt understand that being trans is an internal experience too, especially when they’ve been masking their whole lives.

There is nothing in 40k lore that implies that the Imperium of Man is anti-queer. There are even some canon characters who are queer. It is just part of their personality and not the main defining trait of their character. Queer characters being made just for the sake of being queer is boring and makes shallow character lore. But if you have a heroine who just happens to love another woman, but that part isn’t the essential part of the story, then you have a decent character.

There’s plenty in imperium lore that they are anti-queer. They’re not just against xenos, but also mutants and heretics, the latter two having a rather loose definition and largely dependent on who’s in charge and where.

I expect a lot more flexibility in this regard from the Eldar and the T’au than the Astartes and especially not the overly zealous Soriotes.
