Mangione’s defense team wants prosecutors barred from seeking the death penalty in the federal case.
Attorney General Pam Bondi should have recused herself from Luigi Mangione’s federal murder trial over a “profound” conflict of interest, his attorneys have argued.
Bondi used to be a partner at Ballard Partners, a lobbying firm that represents UnitedHealthcare, and continues to profit from her links to the firm, Mangione’s lawyers argued in a filing late Friday.
Mangione, 27, is accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, 50, on the streets of midtown Manhattan last December. He was arrested five days later at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He has pleaded not guilty to both state and federal charges.
That would be a mistake, she is so incompetent, there is a very good chance she will screw this trial up as bad as all her others and he will go free.
There is already so much wrong with the case. It doesn’t matter who prosecutes it. Also a switch is better because a new prosecutor will need time to get up to speed and may make mistakes to hit deadlines.
Bondi’s lust for power puts all those old white guys to shame.
She’s stacked herself up as one hell of a sacrificial lamb, all these crimes committed on Trump’s behalf by one person, her head is going to be the first to roll and I think it’ll include prison time.
oh, you sweet summer child
Guys he didn’t do it. It could have been any man with thick eyebrows who even knows?
The guy from the CCTV footage of the shooting didn’t have thick eyebrows. They were about as average as eyebrows get.
I was partying with those eyebrows that night, those eyebrows had nothing to do with whatever happened.
Bondi needs to go to prison for the rest of her life
How are we not calling her Pam Blondi?
I don’t get it, what’s so funny about that joke?
There’s an old stereotype that blonde women are often ditzy and unintelligent…
…Outdated and ridiculous a notion as it is, this outlandish belief would explain why Fox hires blondes exclusively and obsessively.
The entire feminine sphere around MAGA are peroxide aryans.
Right, so the joke is misogyny, got it.
Just say you dont get it.
This case should have been thrown out. Netflix made a show of him depicting him as guilty. This would sway the public opinion and there would be no 12 unbiased person as jurors.
Netflix did WHAT‽

It was actually HBO, but I don’t know who owned them this time last year
Also the chain of evidence was broken for literally all of the evidence they have against him.
“Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing” please please come on…
Conflict of interest is what they do.
Hey now, that’s uncalled for.
They don’t have any intention of serving the US, so there’s no conflict at all.
I stand corrected.
It’s all they do.
It will be fun to see what happens to her once the orange kiddie fiddler dies…
If our next president is a Republican or corporate Democrat, nothing will happen to her.
If we somehow get a populist Dem, then Obstruction of Justice Tampering with Witnesses/Evidence (18 U.S.C. § 1512) comes with a penalty of up to 30 years in federal prison. She would likely get sentenced to 10 and serve about 6 years for her role in the Epstein coverup.
Trump is going to blanket pardon ALL of them, for any crime they have ever committed, or will commit in the future.
We will have to completely invalidate his presidency, due to a rigged election, and thus invalidate every single thing he did. All signed legislation, all executive orders, all pardons, etc. become null and void, and it’s as if they never existed, including his presidential immunity. Then prosecute them all for every single tiny violation they have ever committed in their entire lives, and incarcerate them on Gitmo for life.
You speak with certainty, but so much could happen.
Trump could die any day, by assassin or natural causes, and that would mean it is too late to pardon. Vance would not necessarily pardon anyone - he may treat Trump like a saint, or he might throw him under the bus because the Trump-Epstein sexual assaults and coverups are too politically damaging.
Also, doing a blanket pardon devalues the pardon itself. I think Trump is more likely to selectively pardon: People who have dirt on him, people who bribe him, and people who stay sycophantically loyal to him. Everyone else will get fucked like all the construction workers he never paid.
With all that said, yeah there is a good chance Bondi gets a pardon.
Buddy, this guy demolished a section of the white house.
doing a blanket pardon devalues the pardon itself
the copium shit just “returns to normal” when he croaks would be alot funnier if i wasn’t living in the US
shit is bad and it’ll only get worse unless the DSA secretly sweeps every dem election next year
I appreciate the respectful counter, but I can’t agree. He’s already done blanket pardons, including the Jan 6 Traitors, and he won’t hesitate to do it again.
It’s become a MAGA tool, and Vance will use it, too, and probably not much differently. He may choose to pardon those who treated him well, and leave those he resents twisting in the wind.
Our next president will be JD Vance.
I’ve got him slotted in for a swearing in before next Christmas.
No, the next president will be Don Jr, and Trump will be his Chief-of-Staff, and they’ll hire an assistant CoS to do the work, and fetch coffee. Trump will sit at the Resolute Desk, and Jr will sit at a card table with a folding chair.
Nah, I see Don Jr strangling Trump in his sleep and being the first and last trump to see the inside of a jail cell.
On your Tarot cards or… ? 😅
Bingo. Hurtling to the Apocalypse Bingo! You get a new card each year, unless you upgrade to the premium package where you get a new one each month. When you win your prize is crippling depression!
Recuse herself? Is this case being prosecuted by the actual AG?
Is this case being prosecuted by the actual AG?
There’s two cases, and one technically is. One of his cases is at the state level, and the other is at the federal. The AG isn’t directly involved, but they do oversee the one at the federal level.
In theory as someone else said federal cases belong to “everyone” or the country, the United States. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t biases or politics being involved.
Anyways, the AG and DOJs involvement doesn’t amount to as much as people let on. The case was filed under the last administrations DOJ and there’s not much a change in leadership there can change regarding the case. They can change assigned personnel or change the overall approach, such as sentencing or the death penalty, but that’s about it. Bondi did make the push for the death penalty, publicly even, and they’re taking advantage of that, but it’s not entirely unlikely that it wouldn’t have been requested regardless of who was at the helm.
It’s being prosecuted by EVERYBODY. A Sociopathic Oligarch was murdered, it’s all hands on deck!
She’s just illegally meddling in it
