frogs maturing in those waters having substantially higher rates of hermaphroditism.

That’s not even close to what he was saying though. Even if those studies are accurate, which I have my doubts about

You mean hermaphrodism in amphibians as an unintended consequence of environmental changes is NOT the same thing as deliberately induced homosexuality for the purpose of world domination?!

I don’t know about the studies, but I do know that amphibians are extremely sensitive to chemical changes to the water they live in due to water permeable skin. This makes them susceptible to pollution of every kind.

I also know that hermaphroditism is, if not common, at least possible in frogs. This was a major plot point in the first Jurassic Park.

So if someone said that certain chemicals in water caused a higher rate of hermaphroditism in frogs, I’d likely say, yeah, that tracks.

As for Alex Jones, his instant transition to selling water purifiers was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. The blatant screaming fearmongering followed by an instant ad. Some of his other rants have been less entertaining, but each one is also followed by an ad read, even the times he harassed the parents of murdered children. And that alone says most of what needs to be said about that man,

The “turning the freaking frogs gay” clip is from an episode of… his show (don’t want to support it by naming it), in which he refers to the fact that frogs maturing in waters polluted by certain pesticides don’t reproduce nearly as much as frogs that mature in uncontaminated waters.

Lacking any substantial scientific basis or knowledge, he drew the rather elementary conclusion that the pollution turned the frogs into homosexuals, and that’s why they weren’t reproducing.

Further studies showed the causal link between the chemicals and lower rates of frog reproduction were actually due to the chemicals infiltrating and corrupting tadpole DNA during maturation so that they developed both sets of genitals and had reduced testosterone levels.

So, he was only partially right. But he wasn’t entirely wrong either. Which is a weird thing to say about the statement, “I don’t like them putting chemicals in the water that turn the freaking frogs gay!”

Whang! has a video on his YouTube channel where he goes into depth more on the studies, if you’re interested.
