A federal judge on Monday ruled there would be no prison time for a former Alaska Airlines pilot who had taken psychedelic mushrooms days before he tried to cut the engines of a passenger flight in 2023 while riding off-duty in the cockpit.

    I mean, good, because fuck prisons, there are mountains of evidence they do not help.

    Sounds like he needs to be kept away from planes whilst high though.

      I don’t think he was high. It said he took mushrooms days before. I don’t even know why it mentioned that. Shrooms don’t last days.

        According to court affidavits, Emerson later told investigators that he hadn’t slept in 40 hours, had been depressed, had just suffered through the death of his best friend, and had tried psychedelic mushrooms for the first time to assuage his grief just 48 hours earlier. Believing that he “was dreaming” and wanting to awaken, he pulled both of the fire suppression system handles.
