You know how Russia is relying so heavily on glide bombs?
With Russian air defense coverage turning to swiss cheese and Ukrainian flying bombs and cruise missiles becoming increasingly effective, the relevant question becomes how can Russia protect its fighter-bombers it is relying on so heavily to launch glide bombs? Not while they are in the air, while they are on their ground.
Distance is no comfort, Ukraine has proven that.
What I am saying is the benefits to Ukraine taking these out is strategic. Holes in the wall become the genesis point of devastating counterattacks, they are opportunities to exploit.
And again < 100.000 dollars in equipment causing billion(s) of dollars in damages
Couple all those monitary losses with the loss of over a million able bodies men, who won’t be helping the economy anymore, the near world wide sanctions, the destruction of their oil storages and refineries and one does wonder…
How long Russia will be able to keep it up?
How much longer untill Russia has a coup d’etat / revolution and publicly hangs Putin?
How many new countries will Russia break into?
For how many decades all these counties will be fucked because Putin fucked Russia so so bad…

This is a big win. S-400 are difficult to replace strategic assets. Hopefully this opens up future holes in Russian air defense as they scramble to replace the missing pieces.
They hit 2 radars. The most expensive part of the system. Makes the rest of the launchers in the system unusable until the radars are repaired or replaced.
Pretty much every one of these that goes down will do that. The only question is, is the hole anywhere near the front, or is Russia opening their rear to an attack of opportunity from another country.
Like which country would do that? Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Japan? China won’t, because they own Russia already. They’d actually start defending Russia, to protect their own interests.
Also attacking Russia might be the fastest way to find out if their nuclear arsenal is working or not. They cannot use nukes in Ukraine because of NATO, but I’m not sure if they would have the same concerns if say Kazakhstan tried anything.
Maybe Georgia will try to reclaim some of their land? But I guess that might not be impacted by air defence.
I was mainly thinking China though if it became tempting enough.
