Tesla Inc. is developing support for Apple Inc.’s CarPlay system in its vehicles, according to people with knowledge of the matter, working to add one of the most highly requested features by customers.
The carmaker has started testing the capability internally, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the effort is still private. The CarPlay platform — long supported by other automakers — shows users a version of the iPhone’s software that’s optimized for vehicle infotainment systems. It’s considered a must-have option by many drivers.
I bet ditching musk would fix a ton of their sales issues. Better pay him $1T instead.
man they’ll do anything except ditch the fuckwit at the helm
Meanwhile GM doubles down on removing CarPlay from their vehicles. 🙄
Dear Apple:
Do NOT do it!
Through your indifferent silence, let that parasitic warped megalomaniac get a hint to go fuck itself.Apple isn’t likely involved in any way other than cashing checks for licensing fees. They have no reason not to take money from Tesla.
CarPlay, a few buttons and switches, and no Elon Musk would make me consider Tesla for the next car.
But 1 of 3 not a chance.
They are still overpriced garbage.
Well, come on, they are extremely efficient cars, with huge internal space related to size at very competitive prices. Look around at the offerings of most automakers: I see lots of garbage, but Tesla doesn’t belong there. I despise their CEO and many design choices, but they are objectively brilliant vehicles.
but they are objectively brilliant vehicles.
cybertruck.
do I need to list the recalls? or how many countries won’t allow them on their roads?
also - full self drive and autopilot are dangerous and irresponsible misnomers that kill people.
I am a mechanic. It’s unbelievable how cheaply they are made. They are designed to be as cheap as possible, and unrepairable. It’s why there are no buttons, because buttons cost more. And how is that leather in the car? Ha ha, you can get leather in a Corolla or a Civic. HUD? Not a chance. They can’t even add radar for the self driving, because big shock, that would cost more. They really are bargain basement junk.
Design to be cheap is not a bad thing, the problem is when something should be quality but is subpar. Fully agree on missing buttons, but then the infotainment system is best in the industry. Internal materials are just a
bigpiece of the puzzle: for what I know, some suspension bushings wear out pretty fast but apart from that (and ignoring the joke that is the Cybertruck) I don’t hear much about other core components being bad: battery, chargers, motors. Maybe AC and compressor have had problems, because of the - again - hunt for cost effectiveness by removing unneeded parts. But all in all, I think you are greatly exaggerating. For sure they have reliability issues and specific problems and recalls, I’m not unapologetically defending anyone :) they aren’t Toyota, but they improved year after year and Teslas radical approach to car design and manufacturing shook up the industry in a good way in my opinion.
you’re moving the goalposts. first you said they were good, now you’re saying they have reliability problems and other issues requiring recalls.
Design to be cheap is not a bad thing, the problem is when something should be quality but is subpar.
Lol, you folks would go ballistic if it was a Chinese car, but all those “buts” and “ignore this and that” won’t ever make a Tesla a shit vehicle for hypocrites.
All hail the miraculous return of Elon! CarPlay clearly worth the 1 Trillion package.
If Tesla one day truely gets rid of Musk and facists in general (as CEO and shareholder!), I may consider their cars again. Right now, no chance.
Carplay vs human rights … quite a tough choice.
When the tesla detects a black artist is being played on iTunes it drives off the nearest cliff
“Siri, invade Poland”
The tax credit is gone, this won’t change anything in the states
