    Right, in Spanish : the beta royal academy of Spanish : I put “estreamer” in our dictionary "

    French uses prescriptivism; the correct use of language is maintained by an organisation who tell people how to speak properly.

    Spanish uses “descriptivism”, they log how the language is currently used.

    Only they don’t make any useful adaptations happen to the language that people are using, like gender neutral approaches to Spanish or accepting misspellings to fix romance languages ’ awful orthography. They just make shitty loanwords an official part of the language and fuck off to have a 5hour long siesta.

        it’s still bullshit doublespeak if they are not adapting new things being developed by communities like using more gender neutral forms of the language.

        “oh a bunch of people are doing a new thing? let’s ignore that and just add another loanword that roughly the same number of people are using”
