Companies hired by ICE would be given bundles of information on 10,000 immigrants at a time to locate.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is considering hiring private bounty hunters to locate immigrants across the country, according to a procurement document reviewed by The Intercept. Under the plan, bounty hunters may receive “monetary bonuses” depending on how successfully they track down their targets — and how many immigrants they then report to ICE.

According to the document, which solicits information from interested contractors for a potentially forthcoming contract opportunity, companies hired by ICE will be given bundles of information on 10,000 immigrants at a time to locate, with further assignments provided in “increments of 10,000 up to 1,000,000.”

So now instead of masked unidentified cops kidnapping people, there are going to be masked, unidentified non cops kidnapping people?

This… this is going to devolve into armed gangs dragging random brown people off the street and turning them in for bounties (and then they get deported) without anyone at any point actually signing off on anything or checking if their a citizen or not isn’t it…

Don’t worry, statistically many of them will eat their own guns… several years after committing untold atrocities and ruining innumerable lives while on the job.

Eventually, one’s own conscience does seem to win out. Just look at the suicide rates for ex-mil in the US alone. No small part of that total is from catastrophic regret/trauma. 🥲😶‍🌫️

I would love to join this program to send them on so many wild goose chases. But they’d probably arrest me for obstruction or some made up shit.

I’m not in or from the us but I see two possible good outcomes of this. Node: THIS IS VERY MUCH WISHFUL THINGKING AND I KNOW IT WONT HAPPEN. Do not get mad, I’m just shitposting

    1. Since they “can’t have a trial for anyone” bounty hunters claim the reward with no proof and the government gets scammed without anyone actually getting deported
    2. Since the hunters are scamming the government, the government decides to implement a process in which the identity of the deported has to be confirmed before deporting them which gives them a chance to prove their nationality and defend themselves

I know this won’t happen. I believe that the government and the hunters both hate poor people so the hunter will round up ally he poor, and the government won’t care if they are the wrong person. Also, I think there is a high likelihood that the hunters are given the same powers as ice like search without a warrant and so on

Or… number 3 : Only the racist chuds who couldn’t meet the requirements to join ICE become bounty hunters, and they just capture people and further the fear felt by non-whites in the US. Which is the intended goal here.

Yeah. That is a given. Bounty hunters in this case are people not only without morals (like ice) but also do not like following orders…

Wait. Are they actually worse people than ice? Of course ice does way more damage to people and they do hire them so they are guilty of their crimes, but for once, they might actually not be the people with the least morals in the room

Don’t forget, in this instance, since the dumbass “hunters” are fully trying to scam the system via handwaving past the ID confirmation step, in turn that step will be what said gov’t uses to tie up the bounties in court until the whole process is far enough along that it can close out the denial of those payouts.

Word to the wise: trying to “game the system” is an available option that’s hardcoded into the system we all live under. To think for one second that you’re smarter than the elite teams that train tirelessly on any number of exploits… Oof. 🤪🤷🏼‍♂️

Sometimes it’s hard to figure out when the government is smart and evil and when it’s stupid and evil.

            Jesus Christ, people.

It’s not a black and white situation. Hamas don’t get to be the good guys just because the IDF is clearly the bad guys. It’s not that simple, and there are no protagonists in this story. There are people who are committing genocide, and there are people who would love he opportunity to commit genocide (specifically Hamas). I can tell you which is worse, but that doesn’t make the other okay. And it’s all besides the point.

The point was that the administration is totally fine with ICE thugs dying because they’re itching for a chance to escalate.

Funny, I don’t recall saying that hamas was good, I was just adding to what you said. The point is that the hamas comparison was not a very good one, and ice is more like the gestapo or stasi
