If only he had the courage to fight for our democracy while he was president.
Or the 40 years he spent in Congress before that helping to give away all their power to the executive branch.
If only somebody had done something about it, rather than clinging to power because their ego told them that they were “the only one that could defeat Trump,” despite overwhelming data to the contrary. Maybe that person shouldn’t have backed out of the campaign far too late, and then consistently sabotaged their replacement by refusing to let her break from him on unpopular policy decisions.
If only he was in a position of power that could allow him to organise a resistance to this.
So brave to speak out. Welp, that’s that then. Problem solved. Crisis averted.
