I think his channel was the first I ever subscribed to in YouTube. What a nostalgia hit.

is his game running like crap because of the game not handling being that far out?

I tried to watch the latest vid and it made me nauseous.

Basically his coordinates have become so big that the game has trouble of aligning physical location to the actual blocks. You’ll see this when he hovers over a block the overlay no longer matches where the block actually is, it’s like half a block off.

I’m going to guess it’s either lots of lightning updates, precision loss or spawning lots of mobs. If you mean prior to rendering the far lands, then the second one.

kurtjmac was one of the first (I’m not sure if the first) to start the journey. His journey is notable because he did not use the nether or any glitches and built up a community over those 14 years.

On June 19, 2020, at 12:08:57 UTC, KilloCrazyMan became the first player to reach the Edge Far Lands through legitimate means without going to the Nether after 9 months of beginning his journey. He was followed by Eckwall on January 20, 2021.

built up a community over those 14 years.

Never heard of him until reading this post… I also couldn’t find a video on his channel where he showcases that he reached them yet…

Could someone remind me what version and how long a journey this has been?

Yes and no. It is the end of the normally generated and functioning Minecraft world. Afterwards there is still something, as can be seen, but the generated terrain is scrambled and fucked up, because its X and Y coordinates are outside the expected range. Because normally no one will reach it with normal play.

Is it circular around the spawn, or square?

Did this guy know it would take him so long?

        Why did he do it?

It is square around the world origin

He sped up his pace in the last few months, but I remember estimates when he was doing it episodically (instead of live streaming) being in the ballpark of 34 years.

I personally don’t know (someone else may be able to enlighten), but he does a fundraiser (FLoB-a-thon) to raise money for causes he believes in as part of this series.

Also worth adding it sadly doesn’t really exist anymore, the iconic look here is gone, although game mechanics still begin getting weird.

Also although people have teleported to it, Minecraft is so big that I assumed nobody would ever reach it in survival. I’m not surprised it took 14 years.

I think someone else did it in 2019. Kurt started first though, the 2019 guy just no-lifed it.

Not sure who he’s referencing to, but I assume “no-living it” means they did nothing else - aka doing it 8 hours or more per day. “not having a life next to it”

Edit: I should have refreshed before posting :)
