To our eyes int the UK, I think many see this as it is. A completely unlawful horror. A significant minority, and growing, are however buying into overtly blaming migrants, brown, black etc. for anything. My family, friends and community are recieving increasingly open comments for being brown, with specific abusive terms. It is getting ugly.
Unfortunately, many in the USA do not in fact see it the way it is. If anything his immigration policy is the thin thread holding him up while his tariffs weigh him down, in terms of public support.
The UK has had its own racism problem for a long time now (honestly, have they ever NOT had a racism problem? They were slightly less racist than the US though, in that they abolished slavery much earlier). They exited the EU to get rid of all the immigrants. You know, the ones doing all the jobs they didn’t want to do, for less money than they’d want for it.
Indeed, Brexit was the point at which the village idiots felt confident to speak confidently and have since spread that confidence. Trumps confidence is now adding multipliers

Nothing good was ever achieved by emulating the US. I would think the UK would be smarter than that.
