[Logic - Easy, 8] - Is this how gay people make other people gay?

    Failure.

Logic: You always thought being gay might be natural, now it’s become crystal clear to you: the gays are spreading their agenda and you’ve played right into their hands

Suggestion: You enjoy spreading things, maybe we should start spreading the gay agenda too

    Thought gained: The homosexual agenda

      [Inland Empire - Easy, 7]

You feel something stir inside you. A rainbow. A parade. A marching band of men in mesh shirts and glittered jeans, calling you to join them.

      Failure.

Inland Empire: You resist the call, but deep down you know… The bullet has already pierced your heart, detective. You’re gay now. There’s no turning back.

Volition: Nonsense. You are still you. This is nothing but a joke written on a wall. Unless… unless you liked reading it?

Thought gained: The Gay Agenda, Part II (Now Personal)

You thought it was their plan. But maybe… maybe it’s yours now.

      [Rhetoric - Easy, 7]

Detective, perhaps the gays are not spreading an agenda… perhaps the agenda was inside you all along.

      Failure.

Rhetoric: No, no, you’ve seen the pamphlets. Rainbow-colored, neatly folded, like tiny propaganda bullets. This is clearly a coordinated operation.

      [Suggestion - Trivial, 4]

Just let it happen. Call Kim handsome. See what happens.

      Success.

Suggestion: It’s the natural next step in the investigation. Professional. Efficient. Possibly romantic.

“Word around the precinct is you’ve got a fat cock?”

      Kim: “Yes… I do…”

“I’ve got a fat cock too, Maybe we should rub our fat cocks together sometime”

My first play through lasted 20 minutes. The kids around the body heckled me so hard I quit the force. I was hooked after that.

Is there a “right” way to play this game? I got a bit overwhelmed because I would fail checks and was worried I was blocking off “successful” paths to complete the game.

Am I just supposed to crack a few beers, say “fuck it” and just play in whatever way feels the most hilarious?

Kitsuragi died on me but I got the best replacement partner possible, no spoilers for that one.

Often times, in this game, failure leads to “better” or more interesting outcomes than success. There are even some situations where succeeding too well is actually detrimental.

My enjoyment of the game increased significantly once I realized I was inside a story and I should just let it happen while enjoying the ride.

Yeah in my first playthrough I arrested all the kids at the church (I was trying to impress Kim) which locked me out of a pretty significant part of the story

Yes 👍 some failures are better than succeeding the roll and the game is abundant with other leads to follow. Just pick which specific 2 or 3 rolls you think Harry would win more often and then enjoy the chaos

Not completely true. There are ~4 checks that can result in a soft lock if you fail it enough times. My first game ended (SPOILERS) here because I was running a low intelligence build (I had 1 the first time I tried), and then I levelled up and retried 4 more times, completing every side quest I could find. Once I failed it the 4th time with 5 logic, that was it. No longer possible to progress at all.

It’s not that kind of game. You can fail your way to success, as long as you aren’t going too far, like shooting a kid or something.

Shooting AT the kid is okay. Punching the kid is okay. Buying drugs from/giving drugs to the kid is okay.

But you kill him and it’s game over. If you take the shot, you actually want the roll to fail. Or maybe not, cuz missing just makes him talk even more shit.
