    August 28, 2025

    • Brush: Zenith B44 28mm Boar
    • Razor: Koraat 14 “Moarteen” 15/16" Full Hollow
    • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - I, Rich Moose (Mutton -r/Wetshaving) - Soap
    • Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
    • Aftershave: Stirling Soap Co. - I, Rich Moose - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz - Sir Irisch Moos - Eau de Cologne

3 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

Four full weeks of the same edge with no honing or stropping. I’m not sure I understand why us straight razor shavers are so amazed by this. Anyone who takes a DE blade or SE blade this same distance is very likely doing the same thing. I continue to think that stropping is highly overrated, though pretty much everyone else takes the opposite view :)

Here is what the edge looks like after today’s shave. And the shave today was very comfortable and about the same level of BBS as my normal 2-pass shave. I have noticed a reduction in edge keenness.

    August 28th, 2025: MMOCMQ Day 28

    • Brush: Grizzly Bay - Chisel & Hound v24 Fanchurian 28mm Badger
    • Razor: GEM Micromatic Open Comb
    • Blade: Accuforge GEM Microcoat (26)
    • Lather: Mike’s Natural Soaps - Orange, Cedarwood, & Black Pepper - Soap
    • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Rambler - Recovery Splash
    • Post Shave: Stirling - Glacial Unscented - Balm
    • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Roam Two - EdT

The Rambler and Roam Two pair together pretty naturally. This is one of my favorite fragrances, I’ll be sad when this bottle is empty. Perhaps I should try and source a backup…

    August 28th, 2025: Much better

    • Brush: Zenith - 508A XL/Bristle (B35) (MOAR BOAR) 31mm Boar
    • Razor: Joseph Rogers & Sons Near Wedge (8)
    • Lather: House of Mammoth - Mood Indigo - Soap
    • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - I, Rich Moose - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Declaration Grooming, House of Mammoth - Cerberus - Liniment

Same brush, soap, and razor as yesterday, but this time I stropped. I didn’t even strop all that much - about 15 on linen and 30ish on leather. The difference was very noticeable! The shave is closer and more comfortable. It also just plain felt better during the shave.

I can’t definitively say it was 100% the stropping that improved the shave, but I do think it had a lot to do with it. I’ve always thought this razor felt “soft”, as in the metal has a certain soft feel to it compared to the Koraat Moarteen, for example. I’ve had poor shaves and superb shaves from both razors, and this being my 65th straight razor shave I’m starting to have more of the latter from both!

On a different note, welcome @[email protected]!

Congrats! 35 more shaves and you will no longer be a beginner! (That was the rule @djundjila and I used three years ago).
